“Each day comes bearing its gifts. Untie the ribbon.” — Ann Ruth Schabacker

When I was younger, I was driven to get the next promotion, the next bonus so I could buy the next THING I wanted. I focused on what I didn’t have. I rarely took time to appreciate what I already had.

Now, I am almost 62 years old. As I get older each day I have a greater appreciation for the little things in life. I can wake up; my body is functioning pretty well (despite my recent bout with Covid 19). I still wake up with aches and a pain from only God knows where they came from, but…I can still get up and go about my day. I’m grateful that I can spend the day with my wife and can see my kids and grandkids, friends and enjoy their company.

When you are feeling down, I recommend that you take some time to count the gifts that you already have; it should help you see that whatever challenge you are facing, it will pale in comparison to the gifts your Creator has already given you and especially that you will inherit in the future. For any hard times here on earth are temporary compared to what unimaginable gifts await us on the other side which is eternal.

I am grateful for all who read and respond to Today’s Gift and I hope you all have a great day today.
