This is a special addition of Today’s Gift, what I originally intended to post today will be posted tomorrow.
“Our new Constitution is now established, everything seems to promise it will be durable; but, in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes,” – Benjamin Franklin
Yesterday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump was quite a shock. No matter what your political affiliation you are committed to, this in no way should be acceptable for our country. I am praying that this event will be a wakeup call for our citizens and current leadership to tone down the rhetoric on both sides.
A while back the pastor at my church talked about our political divide and I’m happy to say our pastor does not promote one side or the other in his sermons. Without going into his whole sermon, the takeaway was that…sure you can vote for whomever you feel is in your best interest, but in the end our Creator is the one who allows who will be in authority. All of our posturing is to no avail if our Creator is the ultimate authority regarding who will be in control of our government.
I’ll add to what Ben Franklin says is certain besides death and taxes…what is certain is we need not worry who will be in the White House this coming election or in future elections, for our Creator is on His throne and in control.
I suggest we all pray for God’s will for our country so we can all sleep better at night.
Romans 13:1…"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established"
May God bless the USA
