“It is our choices that show what we really are, far more than our abilities.” —J.K. Rowling

This one hit home for me and for many people in my life. I’ve known some really book smart people in my life, the ones who got straight A’s in school, graduated top of their class, voted most likely to be “successful” in their high school year book. You probably have known similar people in your lives.

But……how many of them made good choices? Common sense, at least in my experience, has not been so common. I have relatives and friends who match the description above who have made really bad choices despite having incredible abilities.

I have made my fair share of bad choices, especially when it came to dating. Growing up I had a knack for picking the wrong girls to date. I had a string of 13 girls in a row that broke my heart. It took a divine appointment for me to meet my wife of now 37 plus years in marriage.

It saddens me when I think of people in my sphere of influence who are reaping the bad consequences of their choices. The wisest man on earth (King Solomon) eventually made bad choices in choosing many wives. These women eventually turned his heart away from following the ways of the Lord.

Let us strive to make good choices.
