"It's your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don't take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver." — Betty White
I’ve known a few people in my life that I can’t recall have ever smiled. I remember one of my physician clients that never ever reacted to a sales presentation in any positive way. This doc was an absolute stone face. I tried everything to get this guy to smile, nada, nothing; I almost wanted to check his pulse to see if he was alive. It was the most uncomfortable and awkward call I had to make once every 6 weeks.
My brother told me a few weeks ago that his son-in-law has never once laughed. My brother is one of the funniest guys you will ever meet. One story about his college days will have your belly aching in pain over so much laughter. He said it is the creepiest thing he’s experienced around family members.
I can’t imagine going through life without smiling or laughing. I mentioned in another TG how laughter is good not only for your mental health, but also for your physical well-being. I can understand if someone has suffered a loss or is going through hardship and not feeling like laughing, we all go through bad times where humor is the last thing on your mind. However, one thing I have noticed is the people who can laugh at themselves and see the humor in situations enjoy life to the fullest. This isn’t true in every case; some people use humor to cover up some very dark issues.
My hope is for you to try and find the things in your life that make you laugh and smile. I love a good sense of humor in a person, they are fun to be around, and they bring joy to others.
