God allows us to experience the low points of life in order to teach us lessons that we could learn in no other way.
~~~~~~~~~~ C. S. Lewis
If you've ever had children, or been close to another child, blood kin or otherwise, then you've probably attended some sort of school program in which the child was involved, where s/he "took the stage" in some sort of performance. Maybe even a recent graduation ceremony comes to mind. Regardless, you've had the chance to watch some interesting behavior. Especially among younger kids, when they first step out, they look like they're at a tennis match, eyes and heads darting back & forth until they find what they're looking for (apologies to U-2)---you, or their parents, the people they expected to see, the ones they so wanted to see; it was important to them to know you were there.
Maybe they were excited, or nervous, or had a little case of stage fright---or (d) all of the above. The same holds true in our lives. No matter the stage we're on, whether the play is a comedy, or a tragedy of illness, loss, a prodigal child, a broken dream, if we'll look upward and outward, we'll find what we're looking for. There He is, fourth row center, where the acoustics are the best, and just like the child, we can stop frantically looking, and face whatever is before us. Our Father is here.
"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
Blessings,
NT
