It is terribly amusing how many different climates of feeling one can go through in a day.
~~~~~~~~~~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Life can at times resemble a rafting trip. One minute, the river is wide and peaceful, the water calm. You go around a bend, and suddenly there are rocks and rapids that will test your skill. You've navigated rapids before, but not here, not on this river.
The circumstances of our lives, and our responses to change, are much the same. We have days when we feel pretty good about ourselves and our station in life, but then something changes. Maybe we can identify the cause, maybe we can't, but either way we're back in the canoe, maneuvering these rapids for the first time. Turning back is not an option, so the question is not "Can I get through this?" but is instead "How do I get through this?"
When we feel like giving up---at work, in marriage, in child-raising, in recovery---we'd do well to get some help. Scriptures tell us that God is always here for us, and Help is always available. We are not told that if we have Faith, nothing bad will ever happen to us. There is no such promise. Bad things happen, bad circumstances will confront us. But we are told that with Faith, He can help us work all things together for good.
How can we use the obstacles of this day for our own growth?
Blessings all,
NT
