The Americans with Disabilities Act has made it to where you must account for someone in a wheelchair when designing a bathroom. This basically means that space is wasted on having one monster stall and giant doors that allow for wheeling in and out. Think Starbucks bathrooms - all single toilet large rooms.

Rather than debate about whether or not transgenders can use the women's room, why not just have nothing but single toilet bathrooms? Instead of two massive bathrooms that only have say, 3 stalls due to ADA compliance, why not just have 6 small individual stalls? Perhaps 2 are larger than the other 4 to comply with ADA, but overall they generally encompass the same square footage. This would eliminate the need to have gender specific bathrooms at all, or, it would eliminate any notion of discrimination because you are int he bathroom by yourself whether it's designated for men or women.

Thoughts?
