Crazy game live. Momentum back and forth all day. Looking at the stats (yeah, I know stats are losers), we had

Offense - 527 yds
Quin - 346 and 84% completion rate (yeah, I know 3 turnovers)
Brooks - 129 yds rushing
Whittington - 115 yds
Worthy - 108 yds
(Two 100+ yard receivers for the game)
TEs & RBs - 123 yds receiving

Special Teams
Kicker - 3 for 3 with long of 47
Blocked Punt for TD

Even with 3 TOs and 5 sacks, with this kind of production and Special Teams play, you might have still thought Texas won this going away. Any team other than a top 10 team, you almost certainly do. Yup, take those stats sans the TOS/Sacks any day.

Except when their QB goes Superman for a game, probably putting himself smack in the middle of the Heisman talk. We pretty much held their run game in check, except for the QB. We have done well with running QBs who are only adequate at passing. Unfortunately one who can run and hits 75% of his passes, not so much. They had 9 guys catch a ball. Makes it harder on a D when you can’t focus on one guy.

From my seat, OU went toe-to-toe with our vaunted O and D lines. Despite the 5 sacks, and that goal line series, offense did well, but sacks often mean turning what otherwise might have been a 7 point drive into a 3 point drive. On D, we only got to the QB once. Aside from the QB the D did well enough on the run stops.

You have to wonder just how much we were missing our best Corner, against a high % passer.

Some questionable zebra calls, and some questionable play calls. A power formation into an 11 man box means there are two unblocked defenders, IF everyone makes their blocks. And you don’t think OU didn’t practiced against that formation last week? Loved the 4th down pass play, it was just great execution by OU. Wish we had called it on 2nd down, or even 1st. Three straight into an 11 man front? Ughh.

We are still too inconsistent, especially in/near the Red Zone. Sark has GOT to get that figured out, if he wants a championship team.

Last thought - anyone else think Art Briles’ fingerprints were all over the offensive game plan?
