Thoughts on the game:

We have to make TTU earn every yard. We have made some progress on defense. Even given the teams we played, we've held them to about a TD less than their season average over the last four games. How do we do that? I suspect Mahomes is hurt. TTU called nearly half running plays last week, when they previously had hardly any running yards on the year. That means we need to take away the QB draw. We are getting absolutely murdered on 3rd and long by simple QB keeps. We also can't extend drives with penalties. And for god's sake, don't take stupid time outs at the end of the half.
We also can't stop ourselves on offense. TTU is the worst defense college football has seen, maybe ever. They cannot stop us. But we have found a variety of ways to stop ourselves all year. We can't get cute at weird times. We cant inexplicably go conservative. We can't use players in roles they don't do well in. We cant take ourselves out of long drives with stupid penalties.
I see Foreman getting 300 yard this game. The problem is, as we saw last week, we don't have much behind Foreman. Our offense can't go into a shell when Foreman needs a break. TTU has neither the speed, size, or strength to stop us from doing whatever we want to do. We just need to be smart about it. If you want to take a shot on first down, great, but if its incomplete, you don't run up the middle with Porter twice then punt. Stay agressive.

Those are option plays. It takes disciplined/physical defense to stop a good option team. UT can't tackle nor are they disciplined. That is why Seth Russell killed them, plus he's a very good athlete.

So did KSt's QB. Whatever you want to name it, its a simple drop and keep, and both teams picked up huge chunks of yards every time they ran it. they weren't running to the sideline and pitching, they were just tucking and running straight up the middle. If Mahomes can't throw very much, what do you think they are going to see on film that they can exploit?

677 yards -- the most the Texas defense has ever surrendered in a game.

Does that ignominious record fall this weekend? Or have enough coaches and players dislodged their heads from their rectums to keep it safe?

Like I said in the OP, it's known that Mahomes is "banged up" but there is some talk that Mahomes was questionable to play this game earlier this week. He is definitely not 100 percent, as apparently both of his shoulders are injured. Tech has no running game to speak of. I really don't know what to expect, but this matchup is kind of served up on a platter for Strong to mak a statement.

Dr. @BringBackRoyal has made the following diagnosis. Dr. Freeper concurs....

Both mahomes throwing shouler and opposite collar bone are injured. If we can't keep him in check, we can't stop anybody. This is a lay down win for us with him not at 100%.

they had a Tech beat reporter on The Horn this morning who said Mahomes has had this injury since September and his status is the same. I don't know if I buy that. Something happened in the TCU game. Tech didn't have a single rusher who had more than 300 yards on the entire year, and all of sudden they are a 50/50 run/pass team who needed two OTs to get to 27 points. Its not as if TCU has a stellar defense.

Mahomes is a 6'3" 230 lb kid that can move with a gun arm and quick release. His getting beat each week and staying in there is just raising his draft stock, despite likely needing surgery at season's end.

OK. I'm not debating that he is good, I'm saying I think he may have aggravated a nagging injury last week and he is more hurt than Tech is admitting. Again, just look at their run/pass totals. Something changed dramatically.

Yep, he's been playing hurt to try and eek out 6 wins to keep his HC.

GAME PREDICTION:
TT QB will start and will throw for 275.
TT rushing game will get over 125.
UT QB will throw for 250+
Foreman will run for 200+
TE's will be seen again.
UT D will get 4+ sacks and 2 TO's
SCORE: UT 42 - TT 31

Mahoms was hurting in the OU game and threw for half a mile. Didn't see the TCU game so don't know if it got worse. That kid is a gamer.
