(If this already has been said on here apologies for not knowing.)
A source with knowledge of the situation has told Horns247 that Texas defensive coordinator Vance Bedford is expected to be demoted from his position.
Bedford has yet to show the defense fixes and improvement he promised at the beginning of the season. His team currently ranks No. 87 in total defense.
Bedford came to Texas with Strong, when he was hired in 2014, and has been calling defensive plays for the head coach since 2010 while he was at Louisville. Strong and Bedford were together at Florida where they helped the Gators to a BCS national championship in 2008 and the two grew close prior to building elite defenses with the Cardinals.
In 2013, Louisville led the nation in total defense, rushing defense and sacks while ranking second in scoring defense. In 2012, his defense was ranked No. 16 in passing defense and No. 23 in total defense.
After he arrived at Texas, the Longhorns ranked No. 25 in total defense and allowed just 4.68 yards per play during his first season in 2014.
This is now the second time Bedford has been relieved of his duties as a defensive coordinator. He spent two seasons at Oklahoma State (2005-06) before head coach Mike Gundy let him go.
That was his only other stop as a defensive play caller in addition to Texas and Louisville.
Strong said following the loss in Stillwater on Saturday that he made "a few calls" during the game. With Bedford having called the defense for Strong at Louisville and at Texas, Saturday's game against Oklahoma in the AT&T Red River Showdown at the Cotton Bowl is expected to be the first time Strong will have called a defense on his own since his final season at Florida in 2009.
