If anyone wants to read about the goings on in Dallas, when there was a big presence of dubious characters, read the book of the title thread.
I had the opportunity to meet, and know some of the players, albeit they were old.

?? Stein, who tried to broker a peace deal between, Noble and Benny Binion whom were fighting for control over gambling in Dallas. Bill Decker the sheriff finally told all of the principle players that the Feds were coming to town, and they would have no protection in the future.
I spoke with Jim Leavelle/ handcuffed to Oswald. He thought that Oswald acted alone. He found him to be goofy.
Binion's crew dynamited Noble's car in Oak Cliff, but on that day, Noble's wife took his car and when she started it, they couldn't find any remains.
Noble was inconsolable , and even though it was out of his jurisdiction, a Dallas police detective went to Grapevine where Noble had a ranch with a landing strip, and a hanger. When the officer arrived, Noble was under the plane strapping bombs that he had obtained from Mexico, and an aerial view of Las Vegas. When confronted , Noble began crying, stated that Binion had all the muscle. Bombing was called off. However Binion's crew rigged the mailbox at the ranch. When Noble opened the box, which was rigged with nitroglycerin , boom, no body parts found.
Of the people mentioned above research whom was arrested for boarding a plane with nitroglycerin .
When I met Mr. Russell Douglas Matthews at Campisi's for lunch about 16
years ago, he came in was 6'5", with a black eye patch. He looked our group over, turned toward a fellow giant ex football player and said" who's that ??????. I got lower in my seat, as well as my attorney wife. My business associate "Tiny", said don't worry, RD will kill him before he gets within 5 feet. Without any prodding,
He proceeded to tell my wife that he had been indicted for murder 19 times, and no convictions.
Read the Warren Commission report. Mr. Matthews was a very well know associate of Carlos Marcello.
Remember! Robert Kennedy actually had Marcello put on a plane, flown to a jungle island and removed, replete with a silk suit, and fancy shoes . Somehow he got in touch with family in New Orleans, a plane was dispatched, and he returned to New Orleans.
So now the war was on. Whom do you think won ultimately?
