Texas (7-1) needs to rebound from their 1st loss of the season in a midday matchup against James Madison (7-2) Sunday. The Dukes (Duchesses?) were doubled up by Notre Dame 92-46 in mid-November and took an overtime loss to a very solid Northern Arizona squad. JMU actually has more SEC victories than Texas does so far this season by virtue of a 77-72 win over Florida on Thanksgiving weekend.

Three Dukes average 10+ points per game: 6' G Peyton McDaniel (15.0), 5' 8" G Ro Scott (12.9), and 6' 3" C Kseniia Kozlova (11.3). McDaniel and Kozlova are also their top 2 rebounders at 8.8 and 7.3 respectively. JMU has decent length on the perimeter with several G/SF in the 5' 8" to 6' range but only 3 players in the paint from 6' 2" to 6' 3". As a team, they average 20 3-pt attempts per game and connect on 29.3%. Scott and McDaniel are responsible for more than half of those attempts but they are also the 2 best from distance (38.5% and 35.6%).

Texas Notes:
  • The Longhorns are taking 12.6 3s per game and making 27.7% of them but that result is made more palatable by 2 players: Madison (10/17, 58.8%) and Shay (10/29, 34.5%). The rest of the team? 8/55, 14.5%. Laila was a solid shooter from distance at Michigan (36.2%) but hasn't found her stroke yet (2/11, 15.4%).
  • Shay Holle set the program record for games played in the NCAA era Thursday with 140.
  • Rori Harmon's 563 career assists places her 3rd in all time program assists behind Kamie Ethridge (776) and Terri Mackey (605).
