The Longhorns (14-1, 1-0 SEC) played their 1st ever SEC conference game against longtime Big12 rival OU (sux). For their 1st home SEC game they get an old SWC rival in Arkansas (7-9, 0-1 SEC). Texas leads the series 22-3, winning the last matchup in 2015, 61-50 (B12-SEC Challenge).

Arky HC Mike Neighbors is in his 8th season as HC and is the anti-Vic. His teams love to run and shoot, defense is optional. Their leading scorer, senior G Izzy Higginbottom (5' 7"), ranks No. 4 in the country and first in the SEC in points per game (23.8). They do have some size in the paint, specifically sophomore F Vera Ojenuwa (6' 4") who leads the team in rebounding at 7.8 rpg, followed by 6' 3" sophomore F Jenna Lawrence (6.6 rpg). 5' 7" sophomore guard Kiki Smith will bomb away from distance and hits a very respectable 41.3%. Her 92 3-pt attempts combined with 2 other players' 85 and 80 (257) is significantly more than the entire Texas team (185).

The Longhorns should hold them to well below their 74 point average and, against that matador-style of defense, be able to hit 80. Arkansas doesn't turn the ball over a lot (14.8/game) but they cause even fewer (13.3). In their last game against #6 LSU's aggressive man-to-man defense, they gave it away 21 times in a 94-68 loss. Texas forces 25.5 a game including the 27 they pressured the gooners into Thursday.

Rori continues to climb the Texas record books. She is 4 assists from 600 for her career and 10 from moving into 2nd in program history. She would also be just the 2nd Longhorn with 1,000+ points and 600+ assists.

Kyla Oldacre has been much better than I expected since transferring in. She was a highly rated recruit (#25 overall, McDonald's AA) but didn't make much of an impact in her 2 years at Miami (4.6 ppg and 3.9 rebounds with just 21 starts). She went through a lot at Miami: major surgery to remove a number of benign tumors from her abdomen that caused her immense pain and needing a procedure on her knee as a freshman. So far, she and Taylor have been a dominating presence at the 5 for Texas with a combined 22.8 ppg, 13.0 rpg and shooting 66.8% from the floor.
