The more I think about it, hiring an Air Raid OC from the Mike Leach tree makes absolutely no sense. To run that system, you need a pass first QB and a bunch of dancing bears on the OL that can pass protect. We have neither of those, and Strong doesn't have time to bring in and develop the players needed to fit that system.
If Strong wants to save his job, he needs to bring in someone who can maximize the personnel we have on hand. We have two very talented RB's. A roster full of running QB's. And a couple of young, nasty maulers on the OL.
Find the best spread option guy you can find and put him to work, IMO.
