Monday 4 p.m. update - Somewhat lost in all the Longhorn excitement of this Saturday's visit by five-star athlete Dylan Moses and the Sunday commitment from DB Kobe Boyce has been the news that Texas hosted a trio of Miami-based products on Friday on unofficial visits.

Miami Central wide receiver Carmoni Green, linebacker Waynmon Steed and defensive back Sammy Laster all made their way to the Forty Acres on Friday, getting to spend some time with the Texas coaches.

Reason for the visit: According to Green, the three teammates were in Houston visiting the father of Steed. While in the state of Texas, they decided to hit a few college campuses. Along with UT, the stopped by to check out Houston, Texas Southern and LSU.

Notes on the visits: Green and Steed picked up an offer from Texas Southern during their visits. Texas and Houston told Green they'll stay in touch and will be by his school this spring to get a closer look.

Thoughts on Texas: Both Green and Steed said the UT visit went very well and Green said Texas ranks right up there with any school he's seen.

"The campus is very nice. That's probably the best campus I went to out of all schools," Green said. "The coaches said they're trying to build relationships with Florida players because Florida players have talent and they have good players from Florida on their team right now."

Green, a three-star prospect, currently has about seven scholarship offers. If Texas eventually offers, look for the Longhorns to make a dramatic move up his list.

"Texas would be number one if they offered me," Green said.

My thoughts: With so many talented receiver prospects in the state of Texas for the 2017 class, it will be a little bit of a surprise to see Texas eventually move on Green with an offer. Two things would probably have to happen: (1) the coaches will actually have to see him in person for a spring practice, which is a bit iffy, and (2) he'd probably have to show them that he matches up favorably (or better) than the in-state prospects on their radar.
