One thing that I teach my students, and something I have always found ironic. As a percentage of their national population, Native Americans send far more men and women into the armed forces than any other ethnic group. On a regional basis, Southerners likewise send far more men and women to the armed forces than any other part of the country. Two groups defeated by the United States do more to defend the country today than any others. Ironic.....
