welcome to the 40 Quin Ewers

I gotta say this is big, big as in when Clemson got Trevor Lawrence big. He is pretty much everyone's #1 QB a guy that is considered a generational talent.

Even if he isn't that good, we won't know it for 3 years and by that time he will have attracted a lot of big time talent to Texas who wants to play with him.

I've held back on how good I thought this Texas team is going to be. Texas is not on the level of Bama, Clemson or Ohio state, however, That's about it. Texas can beat everyone else.

My expectation has not changed, this team is good enough to win the conference, that needs to their #1 goal, in fact that should be their only goal. Tom needs to prove he can do this, period.

He won't be fired after this season, too much of the Covid to fire a coach in such a season. However, the real question is how will Texas do when we lose a number of juniors to the NFL such as Coburn, Eagles, Ingram, Sterns, and Ossai. That along with breaking in an inexperienced QB, we will be in a transition year in 2021. We have to maintain our level of excellence we establish this year.

Will this possibly help flip the Brockermeyer twins?

I'm still pissed we let them get away.

This kid Ewers is special. Number 1 overall prospect in class of 2022. He's actually rated slightly higher than Trevor Lawrence and Vince Young. Generational talent for sure. I hope we can keep him committed.

Very exciting for sure.

Hard to be rated higher than VY....He was 1.000 rated. Quinn had unbelievable numbers as a sophmore QB Something like 42TDs, 4 ints...72% completions at 10 yds per throw average.

Really? Only Bama, Clemson, and OSU are better than Texas? Sure Texas can beat anybody...any team can beat another team. Almost the entirety of this post is horribly misguided...you should have trusted your initial instincts and held back this opinion.

Well I know we're can beat anyone on our schedule lol and that might be as far as they let us get anyway.

Remember when you trotted Rhett Bomar out against Texas in 2005, you remember what happened to him in that game? We created the term "Bomared" Same thing is going to happen this year, we are going to call it "Rattlered"

Ya that LSU cancellation is a kick in the nuts. I know they are loaded with talent but Joe Burrow won that game for them last year. No joe and we win that game. I think we'd have had a decent shot at stealing that game. The only fly in that ointment was the fact that we'd have had to play in death valley.

You only had to go back 15 years congratulations. The point was your post is over the top. Texas is not better than the three teams you list, and many more than that. The talent is not at the level you suggest. Half your fan base is praying Herman is gone after the year...and with reasonable logic. There is nothing wrong with having hope and playing what if scenarios, but what you suggested was off the mark...

The why haven't we in the past 3 yrs?

Is this a real question? Maybe because we didn't have a senior QB, an All American linemen, Returning 7 on offense and 8 on defense, and the first time our #3 ranked 2018 class are now upper-classmen.

But then again, it is probably the Shiner talking.

I was more worried about Okie Lite than either LSU or blowu. LSU is so young and inexperienced, much like we were last year, they will probably be really good at the end of the year, but experience is a tough pill when you have to get it in the beginning.

Texas has beaten blow you plenty of times, I could have talked about any of those other times, but this is the best Texas team since 2005. Yes we are better than 2008 and 2009. Much more star power this year than we had with either of those classes. I fully expect to deliver a 2005 ass whipping to the the crimson boners.

I'm actually much more concerned about Okie Lite than you turd burglers.

And now that I think about it we will have a better team than tOSU. I guarantee you they wont even win 1 game this year. However we will definitely win a lot more than 1 game.

When I look at our revised schedule the big change for me is having to play at KSU on 12/5. I'm not looking forward to playing in central KS in Dec. There's no telling how cold it's going to be.

And besides we have had more than our fair share of trouble there. That was a hard fought win 2 years ago and I don't have to remind anyone that KSU has given us hell since we joined the Big XIl. But look at how many close games we've had against them games that we've won and lost. I didn't want to digress but hey everyone on here talking who's our biggest rival I say look no further than KSU. For me they're our second biggest rival.

KSU without Snyder has been a shitshow for decades.I dont give a crap who is the coach there now......he aint Snyder!

I understand your concern for OSU considering the recent record. I will defer to you on UT's talent being better this year compared 2008 or 2009. From an outsider the UT talent is young and unproven especially on both lines. Add the fact both coordinators were replaced and I would think there is good cause for concern.

soonersoldier....logic is on your side here, but believe me....we had lots more concern before the coordinators were replaced...as Huey Lewis said.....sometimes bad is bad....

But after 2 years of Blake Bell and Travis Knight not not getting it done OK hired Lincoln Riley and I'd say that worked out well for you guys. And certainly you're not ready to give up on Alex Grinch. No one can say that Yurcich or Ash won't get the job done if they work out then we can win the Big XIl there's no denying the talent is there.

How are we young on both lines?
Offensive line
Sam Cosmi - 26 Career Starts
Derek Kerstetter - 28 Career Starts
Junior Angilau - 12 Career Starts
Denzel Okafor - 39 Career Games, 5 career starts

That is a lot of experience, at most we will have one guy starting without extensive experience. We will have little depth with experience, but again that is a very talented group. Word is Isiah Hookfin is really turning some heads in practice.

Defensive line
Joseph Ossai - 15 career starts and played in 27 games
Byron Vaughns - 0 starts and played in 10 games last year.
Keondre Coburn - 12 career Starts, 16 games played in.
Moro Ojomo - 3 career starts, and 16 games played in.
Tevante Sweat - 0 starts, played in 13 games.
TaQuon Graham - 15 career starts, 39 games played in.
Marquez Bimage - 0 starts, 34 games played in.
Jacoby Jones - 0 starts, 11 games played in.

This is without looking at our 5'star true freshmen and high 4'star true Freshmen.

Do you want to talk about our DBs, or our linebackers? How about our receivers, Running backs or TEs?

8 returning starters on defense and 7 on offense.

For the first time we have a junior class with as many as 5 or 6 guys that have a legit opportunity declare for the NFL draft. I'll take that any day.

Like I said, we don't have the talent or depth to take on Ohio state, Bama, or Clemson, those teams are on a whole other level. I'll take our chances with anyone else out there.

Kennedy Brooks, ou's #1 rb, just opted out of the season. Apparently Demarco Murray is not a hit. OU may finish in the bottom half of the league. They are very thin on d, qb, rb, and wr. No wonder riley wanted cancel the season.

LOL they will not finish bottom half of the league. You could could make $millions if that actually happened.

I noticed that Micah Parsons announced that he was going to opt out for the season before the Big X canceled their season. I expect to see more players do the same before the season.

And because of this there was nothing the coaches could do to stop this. And unfortunately OK probably has someone good enough to not miss a beat.

Lol. Best team since 05? The 08 and 09 teams combined for 25-2 record and this team is better? ehlinger isnt as good as mccoy was. Two 1000+ yard receivers in 2008, another 1400 yard receiver in 2009 to go along a nasty top 3 defense. And the returning talent at WR?? The best returning wr had like 500 yards last year. You can say this year's team has potential but the defense sucks ass until proven otherwise, with a less talented qb and no proven dependable receivers- factors that really elevated the 09 team. They should most certainly have a better running game this season, but really that's just projecting potential because last year's rbs were about average but not special or difference makers in any way. They dont really have the kind of play makers that you rally have to game plan for.

I'd be more worried about OU than osu. All Osu has is a decent but interception prone qb, great rb and one good wr. Texas was better on offense last year than they were. let us not also forget they return a defense still giving up 400+ ypg, who was rated 7th out of a 10 team conference known for terrible defensive play. And worse of all, they have gundy, and OU has Riley.

They have always had quality depth at rb, so there are no issues there, especially since the Oline continues to improve. They have the best qb in the big 12 that isnt saying a lot yet, but he will be the all big 12 #1 qb though. Just about everyone is thin at qb after qb1. Wr isnt thin, it's just unproven after wr #1 but the depth of talent is very solid. I would never doubt a Riley offense, and i'd bet you a buffalo nickel they lead the big 12 in total offense again.

As far as Murray being a hit, Wheaton likes him and they are the favorite for two of the best rbs in the '22 class. Brooks opting out is unrelated to his position coach.

Heisennberg....your first post is solid as your posts generally are. Sadly, you had to make a second post that is puzzling. How can you say that our receivers only have potential, but your QB is the best in the Big12? I dont enjoy agreeing with Sooners that point out where we longhorns are too deep in the koolaide, but that is often the case. Yes...Lincoln Riley can flat out get the most out of his offenses. The defense not so much.

I hope for a season, but I am frankly whistleing past the graveyard on that. If it does come off I guess we might all have some questions answered.

Texas OL is suspect. D should be good. Going to need to open up the los with ingram, johnson, robinson, smith, and whittington. Ou d is suspect and the o is looking thin depth wise.

I think it's easier to project the current OU qb in Riley's already proven offense than it would be for unproven wr in a new texas offense we havent seen much of yet. And that's more a subjective opinion on Rattler but i havent met a texas fan yet who is willing to bet me $ that Rattler wont have a better season.

I think Grinch has shown that he can squeeze water out of a dried sponge based on what he was able to do with the garbage he inherited from stoops. It will be interesting to see where that defense goes cause it's getting better.

I wont be surprised if we have no season but i also think it's got enough momentum to give me some serious hope
