In the fall of 68 I was a freshman living in Moore-Hill Hall as well as our entire football team. We were close to beginning our 30 game win streak and except for Nam things were good in burnt orange country. Behind the dorm and next to Gregory Gym was a small private parking lot.
It was called "the starters lot" and was full of new Orange and White Olds Cutlass' from Mossy Olds. We used to laugh and say dang those guys have good summer jobs.
I heard the players bragging about how many 20's were stuffed under their doors in the dorm on home game days in the fall.
I have been reading on Orangebloods for many years that we didn't have to buy players like SMU and Aggie did. That might be a little true but not really. Giving star players more than a scholarship didn't start in 68 and we were involved like everyone else. Glad to be going to the SEC & Hookem.
