Old Big 12 rivals meeting in an NIT quarterfinal game. Two teams that look pretty evenly matched. Winner gets to go to MSG.

Are you guys too frustrated at not meeting expectations on the season to care?

See the thread currently directly under yours by FlourBluffHorn.

But the answer to your question is yes. Aside from a couple of stubborn masochists, no one gives a sh*t anymore. Fan interest in Texas basketball is tepid even during the best of times, but Shaka’s incompetence has ground the life out of the fan base altogether.

Dang, too bad. Just saw attendance for the SDSU game was about 1500. Tepid would be putting it mildly. That's crazy considering you guys have some really good players. I thought Shaka Smart would be a great hire and maybe he will be if given a little more time to build.

It would seem you guys have a size advantage over us, but you tend to shoot a lot of 3's as a major part of your offense. It will be interesting to see if you change up and go inside more in this game with us being much smaller there. We have not been a good road team and mainly why we're in the NIT. If in Boulder, I would be comfortable picking CU. In Austin, going to be tough. Haven't won there in over 20 years.

I read an article that bama might be going after Beard from Texas Tech. Also, arky fired their basketball coach so, who knows who they will go after. This has nothing to do with the OP, but it is Shaka related if he keeps up his performance. I will be watching tonight. Hookem

Shaka's teams have not been a strong inside team, even when we had Mo Bamba and Jarrett Allen.

Alright folks, how tense can a Shaka-coached team make things with a 25-point halftime lead?

You guys are killing it. Sadly, our team didn't show up. Reminds me of the Big XII championship game circa 2006. Good grief :eek::oops:.

Don’t give up yet. This team managed to faceplant with a 17-point lead with eight minutes to play a few weeks ago.

These announcers are spot on regarding Roach. He is good when he focuses on driving the lane and horrible when he tries to depend on 3s. I wonder why Shaka didn't reign in Roach's decision making earlier in the season. It is a no brainer that some of these guys want to show the NBA their range more than help their team win. But, that is the coach's responsibility to identify that.

I'm reminded of the Jones Ramsey quote about the 1978 N.I.T. "This year we won it, last year we couldn't even spell it."

Shaka will look to get his second win in the last three seasons over Jamie Dixon and traditional basketball superpower TCU (he’s currently at 1-5) in Madison Square Garden — the same TCU team that absolutely pollaxed our hapless team in Austin on Senior Day. Should be fun.

Not good. However, if they play like they did tonight, they may win. At least tonight was a good win for Texas.
