The thread by @Her costar in the beaver picture , https://texas.forums.rivals.com/threads/give-me-your-top-five-1980s-new-wave-songs.564079/page-2 as great a thread as it was just got a little too convoluted. @Frank Pentangeli gave a great account of how that genre evolved throughout the 80's. So, in essence it is more of a broader category than trying to pinpoint what NW truly was to start off with. I myself, couldn't come up with just 5 songs. Plus, the evolution and cross over of the genre to others make it too confusing to say, "that was NW", or "No, that was not NW".
So, instead, .. i saw everybodys list, and i saw a missing component. There were a lot of great club songs back then. Songs that weren't mainstream or top 40 as most of those listed were. Alot of good club songs weren't listed in that thread. So, in the clubs as i mentioned in the title, or bars that you may have frequented, ... what were your fave songs to jam out to, dance to. To 'X' to, 'Shroom' to and get shit faced drunk to while trying to pick up co-eds. They don't have to be NW. Could be Rock jams, Industrial, Synth, Goth, House, Pop, .. but in club format.
I'm gonna start off with a few. Truth is, .. i have a few thousand i could choose from. I have a large collection of vinyl, and CD's from back in the day. Razormaid compilations, ZYX labels, white labels when they first started coming out. The late 80's / early 90's were the shiznizzle for vinyl. For this thread i'll stick strictly to the entire decade of the 80's. I would routinely go buy vinyl from Bills in Dallas, Record Rack in Houston.
Club songs were songs that were extended in length, typically called a 12" mix back then. Nowadays, they are given the moniker of a remix. Truth is a remix, is someone elses version of said song, mixed using their own special talents. Some weren't 12" mixes, but stood alone as a great club/bar song. Songs like these, i heard at the Back Room and such.
So, list your songs, and which club you cavorted about when jamming out to them. To start off, here are a few of mine i still enjoy listening to.
