I have seen all the arguments for this guy or that guy or Charlie. I am not convinced that anyone has more of a clue than I do.Thus, I extend my expertise and offer the following:

1. Hire a special teams coach and give him authority to coach

2.Search the country over and find out who are the best of the best kickers out there and put on a full court press doing whatever we can to get them to come here...full ride...you know, like we used to do...

3. dig out all the tapes we have on Tommy Nobis...the 2005 defense...the 1983 defense..and make all the defensive guys watch em till their eyeballs bleed until we can learn how to tackle.

Thats a start...I dont want to overwhelm the guy by feeding him too much too soon

Outside of extra points, our special teams have been pretty damn good.
Kickoff coverage - excellent
Kick returns - good.
Punt coverage - excellent
Punt returns - good.
Punting - a real weapon

Our only issue is field goal and extra point blocking. Something that should be fixable why it isn't I have no idea. I don't hold the special teams coach responsible for missed field goals. Sometimes you just need the right kicker.

We have been spoiled, for as far back as I can remember we have had great kickers. Lots of programs don't have that legacy.

Why, so they can laugh at how un-athletic those guys were. Right now in college our defense is facing offenses more sophisticated than anything in the NFL back in the 70's and 80's. They are also facing athletes better than anything in the NFL back then. I'd rather have them watch current film of Alabama and LSU maybe then they can learn what it takes to be a great defense.

Punt return is below average. Kick return is below average.
The special teams that SCORE....field goals and extra point absolutely suck.

I get that, but we are spoiled, we have gone too many years with great kickers, this is probably the worst kicker we've had that I can remember.
