I'm not going to take part in the who's going to be our next hc. I've done that to much myself and I'm not proud of myself for doing so.
What I will say is that Big XII defenses are a disgrace. I've watched some games this year where I've seen some good defense being played. But none of them involved a Big XII team. There's no denying that there are some bright young oc's in the Big XII. They're still in their thirties, some of them are going to be big names, I'm sure some of them will be hc's someday. But when it comes to dc's the Big XII basically has a bunch of guys that are stealing from their employers. Our conference desperately needs some bright defensive minds that know how to recruit, develop, and coach a playoff worthy defense. Find a guy to run a spread offense and concentrate on defense. There is plenty of 4 and even 5* defensive talent in the TX high schools. Recruit them and develop them. I will be watching to see how former Bama dc Kirby Smart does at GA. I've already talked about Brent Venables and I'm sure there are others waiting for the call. I just don't know what else to think or say when it comes to the plight of the Big XII. Of the P5 conferences the Big XII has the most uncertain future and while the University of Texas will land on it's own two feet where are we going to go where we can hold our own? A former NFL coach once said offense sells tickets defense wins games. I'm getting tired of basketball like final scores. Who wants to win a game 66/59? 50/47? I don't.
