Taylor may be ready to move on or maybe it's just time. I hope he stays. The NBA will require him to be a 3 point threat. He has improved but, has a long way to go. It's a little odd to see his long range shots-they have very little spin. I still thinks he will flee to the NBA. Next year's team makes it difficult to come back to. Cleare is our only big. We should have plenty of depth in our back court, but, front court is mighty slim. Hopefully, we can recruit a one and done calibur big guy.

Have you not heard?! We are getting Allen!! And we have another big coming from Indiana. And we have another 5* coming from Irving Mac. And we are getting a point guard!

I am not up to speed on basketball recruiting. Whoever will have to be a very big impact player which is not easy for any freshman

Yeah I think we've already got 3 or 4 McDonald's AAs lined up for next year. Also last I heard we were in the hunt for the top juco player in the country from the Bronx. Bashir Ahmed, a 6'7" wing.

All of the people close to Taylor are apparently pushing him to declare. Very unlikely that he stays, I think.

We have 6'10" C James Banks from Indiana coming in (64th in the 247 composite), a five-star combo guard in Andrew Jones, and another top-100 player in PG Jacob Young. We're also the favorites to land five-star 6'9" PF Jarrett Allen from St. Stephen's. Chip Brown has been saying that Texas will also land a grad transfer PF "who will remind people of P.J. Tucker," a JUCO big man, and a wing (not sure if high school or JUCO). If all of that comes to pass, next year could be considerably better than I had been expecting.

I'm going to try to update our basketball recruiting as best I can. Anybody else feel free to add to it.

Andrew Jones. 6'4" combo guard. Irving, TX. 4*, McDonald's AA.
Committed to Texas.

Jacob Young. 6'0" point guard.
Houston Yates. 4*
Signed with Texas.

Jarrett Allen. 6'10" center.
Austin St Stephens. 5* McDonald's AA
Leaning Texas

James Banks. 6'10" center.
La Porte, IN. 4*
Signed with Texas

Bashir Ahmed. 6'7" wing.
Bronx, NY, JUCO in Kansas.
Rated #1 juco player in the country.
Last I heard, Texas was very much in it with hometown St. John's as the main competition.

Any updates or corrections welcome. I think I saw somewhere one if not both of those guards are now 5 stars, but not sure.

Allen is ours already....a birdie already told me he is coming to Texas.

He needs to work on his shooting either way, stay or go.

Yeah I'm pretty sure he is, too. Just being cautious.

I understand but I don't come on here and feed bs. A family member of his works with my mom. And there is another lady that works with my mom and her son plays for Tulsa. And another lady that we were recruiting her son in basketball was a top prospect but went to smu because of grades and now plays for unt. You guys can figure that one out.

I think he stays. His shooting keeps him from being a first round pick. As a 2nd round pick it's non gaurnteed contracts and not a lot of 2nd round picks make squads. Unless he has opportunities overseas I think he comes back and works on his game. He likes playing for Shaka and Shaka can help him. He will regret leaving imo.

I think next year is fine maybe better than this year. Davis, roach and Mack will have a year under their belt. Shaka is bringing some talented big guys in, and he has a great big man coach in Horn. I think Clarie is an impact guy next year to. If Taylor comes back I for sure think we are the favorite to challenge KU. Remember we have a coach who is great at developing players.

If that's true about Taylor he's getting bad advice and I hope he seeks the NBA's opinion before making a call. He's not a first round pick and if you aren't a lock first round pick you better stay

The second sentence doesn't really have anything to do with the first. Players routinely make suboptimal, confirmation bias-driven decisions in these situations.
Very true. But I hope people that know how the NBA works talk to him. This isn't the NFL where 2nd and 3round picks make good money and routinely make an impact. 2nd round picks in the NBA are basically an invite to try out. Most teams rather than taking college guys will take over seas guys in the 2nd round so they don't use a roster spot but keep the players rights.

On the basketball recruiting front. Tyson Jolly is a 4 star SG who was committed to Cal. He opened up his recruitment yesterday. Texas is one of several schools to make contact. So that's worth watching.

Are we losing any of our assistant coaches? Horn did an outstanding job and I think he may get offers. I hope he stays to work with the new Bigs coming on board.

To early to tell there aren't a lot of jobs open yet. If Brad Underwood gets a bigger job I could see SFA interested in Horn maybe.

Apperently Hawaii isn't eligible for the post season next year and seniors can transfer. If he elects to transfer I'd love for Texas to land their big man. Guy can really play and would excel playing with Davis, roach and maybe Taylor. Would also allow the younger big guys to be more role players to stsrt.

Who is this guy you speak of, and how big a boy is he?

I'm not sure where Taylor would go. He's not close to being projected as a draft pick. In short, he's just not good enough barring a sudden dynamic improvement in his game. His best bet his to stay and see what develops.
