"The fate of next season's NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte is in question after a "discriminatory" law was passed in North Carolina, the league announced on Thursday.
"The NBA is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for all who attend our games and events," the league said in a statement issued on Thursday. "We are deeply concerned that this discriminatory law runs counter to our guiding principles of equality and mutual respect and do not yet know what impact it will have on our ability to successfully host the 2017 All-Star Game in Charlotte."
North Carolina was the first state in the nation to require public school and university students to use public bathrooms according to the gender on their birth certificate, and the state has banned any local government measures protecting people from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity."
