I have lower front teeth that have been ground down over the years fairly significantly. My dentist sent me to an orthodontist who is suggesting that my entire bite (I have an overbite) needs to be reset by using Invisalign braces on both the lower and upper teeth. He said I would also need the services of a periodontist who would cut into my lower gums to do something (I’m not clear what) to facilitate the readjustment of my bite. After all of this is done (wearing the braces for 10-16 months) my mouth should then be ready for my dentist to repair the ground down lower teeth by either veneers or crowns. By my calculation all of this fun stuff would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $40,000.

For any of you dental professionals out there, does this whole process sound reasonable to you? It is damn expensive and is obviously something I would not be looking forward to.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
