Hardwood MVP: Tonight’s Hardwood MVP is none other than Tre Johnson. Simply put this kid is special and always reminds me why he is as highly touted as an NBA Prospect, it’s because of performances like tonight, Johnson poured in 32 Points, 9 Rebounds, and 3 Assists, truly a one-of-a-kind player and one of the best to ever come through the 40 Acres.

Tale of the Tape: The Wildcats came into this matchup inside the top 20 in KenPom, NET, and AP Ranking and to say that Mark Pope’s Wildcats are as efficient as they come on the offense end is an understatement ranking 3rd in the country in Offensive Efficiency. As for their defense, it’s been the reason the Wildcats have seemingly struggled in some matchups ranking 2nd to last in the SEC in Defensive Efficiency.
Batman & Robin: Despite Tre’s phenomenal outing, tonight’s outcome wouldn’t have resulted in this manner if it wasn’t for Tramon Mark putting on a show as well. Tre Johnson and Tramon Mark combined for 58 of Texas’ 82 Points, and totaling 20 of the Longhorn’s 29 Field Goals against the Wildcats.

Who Placed that lid there? Wouldn’t be shocked if Texas did as the Longhorns held the hottest shooting team in the SEC to 6/24 from beyond the arc a 25% drop from their season average during conference play.

Keeping it a buck: This might arguably go down as the season defining win for Texas if they are to punch a ticket into the NCAA Tournament. Not only was Texas getting dominated inside the paint, on the glass, and having an abysmal outing from three-point land, this game would typically head in the direction we’ve been seeing for the last two weeks, a loss. Instead, Texas picks up a much-needed win for their resume and in what could potentially put Texas back on track to a ticket in March. Now Texas gets a week off until they have to go to back-to-back road games against South Carolina (2/22) and John Calipari’s Razorbacks (2/26).
