Well, Leyte sure was a learning experience.....I don't know if the future was a cakewalk....my dad still had to fight his way across Okinawa, where he would earn a second Purple Heart. At least by the time Okinawa rolled around he had been promoted Staff Sergeant and he no longer had to tote the BAR. Now he was packing an M1.
