Texas BASEBALL - 2026 Commit Alert

The Longhorn staff continues to stockpile talent for the 2026 class. This time, the staff stayed in the state of Texas, grabbing one of the best RHP in Karson Reeder.

The Tomball product has a great feel for pitching, not just throwing and has consistently put up great numbers. During the 2024 season, Reeder went 13-1 with a 0.89 ERA, striking out 120, while only issuing 20 walks. In addition, Reeder was named to the Underclass All-Tourney Team at Area Codes baseball along with fellow Longhorn commit Trey Rangel.

Reeder has a FB that sits in the upper 80s and has touched 90, but with the type of arm action and the athlete he is, there is more growth and velo coming. He also throws a curveball and an even better slider, both for strikes, generating uncomfortable looks at the plate.

OT: Anyone Recently Vacation In Portugal?

Wife (from Nam) and I are thinking of taking a vacation to Portugal. We'd be flying out of Austin sometime in September. There are so many choices to fly there. Thinking British Airways to London, then to Lisbon.

We are mostly interested in the food, wine, and scenery. Some have said to visit Porto as well, apparently there is a train we could take between the two cities.

Any recs are appreciated for Hotels/AirB&B/Restaurants/Wineries

Starting to research our options.

TIA

What is the rule about pumping in noise at your stadium?

So anyone who was at the Vanderbilt game yesterday had the unfortunate experience of listening to their terrible PA announcer screaming, music blaring and that obnoxious ship horn blasting well into the play clock. What is the the rule on when they have to turn that off? I thought it was before the play clock started but that wasn’t the case yesterday, is it just before the QB snaps the football? If so, how do they know when the ball will be snapped?

Sark QBs: OC @ Bama vs Here

Using Sarks last OC stop at Bama when he had their O rollin. I don’t want to hear “we arent bama” or whatever you want to say. We have a top 5 roster, a supposed to be “elite” QB starter, an elite Arch backup, and good receivers. We all believed at the start of the season that we had one of the best WR rooms in the country.

This thread is not to get into any nuance.

I have been the biggest QE fan since he got here, but the way he is playing shouldn’t be happening in year 3.

This is for the people, like me, that believe QE isn’t seeing the field, stepping up, or pushing the ball downfield (that doesn’t mean bombs) and is dinking/dunking/checking down bc he isn’t seeing it or is timid or afraid or whatever.
It’s simply not good.

Heres what pushing the ball downfield looks like under a well operated Sark attack, which is the same attack as when he was at Bama. Look at Average pass depth.

Quinn’s best season, last year, is on par with how it should be under Sark at the very least. This year is not good.

We all say that stats don’t lie, right? look at Arch’s number.. matches Tua and Mac Jones.

I would much rather have a guy that will throw picks but see the entire field and chunk it everywhere vs throw picks and dink and dunk. Arch can do what Quinn does and much more with his arm and then his wheels.

I know he isn’t going to sit QE unless he’s absolute dogshit again but the stats say he should, IMO. Just thought the stats were interesting.

Here’s to hoping Quinn turns it around and finishes 4-0 to end the regular season. 🤘

Us Olds Are Getting Ready

Because we know what's coming.

I know - ACES! But as an old, I SMH at the OBs who dismiss A&M as below our contempt, and see OU as our only true rival. Well, we don't refer to OU in our fight song.

With all the changes in college football, the significance of an in-state rivalry seems diminished, but many of our co-workers, neighbors and friends are Aggies. There's was nothing better than having bragging rights on the Monday after Thanksgiving. And just in case you think it's been a one-sided rivalry, here is the record since 1980:

So youngbloods, get ready....the BEST rivalry in college football is coming back!

HOOK 'EM!

View of our DB from 10k feet

Jeez, maybe an exaggeration but feels like we have like 8-10 legit NFL prospects in there currently after getting a game look at the “fresh fish” yesterday. McDonald looked pretty damn awesome in there after being pressed in to duties for Williams and Mukuba being out. Our “walk on” (former) is going to play in the NFL. Completely forgot about Kobe Black so much that I had to ask myself “who the hell is that #6 cat?”
Manny rarely gets called because nobody throws his way. Jahdae has simply become a big timer. Man oh man it feels like the assembly is loaded AF back there.
