These people are not saying Biden is a threat to democracy...they are saying their own former boss is. Never has an former President had this many officials from his own administration come out against his re-election campaign.

An Irish man is stumbling through the woods, totally drunk, when he comes upon a preacher Baptizing people in the river.

The preacher turns around and is almost overcome by the smell of alcohol, whereupon he asks the drunk,

‘Are you ready to find Jesus?’

The drunk shouts, ‘Yes, I am.’

So the preacher grabs him and dunks him in the water.

He pulls him up and asks the drunk, ‘Brother have you found Jesus?’

The drunk replies, ‘No, I haven’t found Jesus.’

The preacher shocked at the answer, dunks him Into the water again for a little longer.

He again pulls him out of the water and asks again, ‘Have you found Jesus my brother?’

The drunk again answers, ‘No, I haven’t Found Jesus.’

By this time the preacher is at his wits end and dunks the drunk in the water again —
But this time holds him down for about 30 seconds and when he begins kicking his arms and legs so he pulls him up.

The preacher again asks the drunk, ‘For the love of God have you found Jesus?’

The drunk wipes his eyes and catches his breath and says to the preacher, ‘Are you sure this is where he fell in?’

Hearing the defense win the day early but the offense responded in the second half with some nice plays.

Johntay Cook had a touchdown, per one observer.

The word of the day … again … was physical. One person told me there was A LOT of hitting.

Hearing the DBs had a solid day overall. The wind may have impacted the passing game a bit but I’m find that even when the ball was in a good spot, the DBs had a lot of plays where they had great coverage and were able to get a PBU.

I’m down on campus trying to get some recruit interviews but I’m hoping to collect a few more practice notes later today.

Another source said the defense had a really good day overall. That being said, this person said the offense was able to score pretty easily in goal line drills.

Matthew Golden made some plays, per one observer. Ryan Wingo, who has been the buzz of the camp, was pretty quiet today.

There was one fumble that was scooped up Michael Taaffe that would have been returned for a long TD if the play wasn’t blown dead. Seems like every time I talk to someone about a practice, Taaffe’s name gets brought up.

One person said Quinn Ewers looked the best of the QBs but he did have a couple balls that were held up by the wind that the defense was able to get to.

Arch Manning was decent, per one source but not as sharp as Ewers with his reads. Sounds like Arch got some constructive criticism from Sark on a few throws, which Arch of course took well.

Lots of mixing and matching of personnel again today, which has been the norm. Probably a good sign of the team’s depth.

Repeating a note from my OP but another source said the DBs had a really good day today.

A couple different people mentioned Malik Muhammad as having a good day.

Trey Moore and Colin Simmons also mentioned.

RECAP

The Horns got things started early as Kimble Schuessler used the pitching wedge and knocked an RBI single into shallow CF to give the Horns a 1-0 lead after the 1st inning.

After a quiet 2nd inning, the Horns got back to work in the Top 3rd inning as Powell got a 1 out single to right CF, followed by a double to LF by Jalin Flores, which brough up Kimble Schuessler, who again busted out the pitching wedge to drop a shallow fly ball into RF as the RF and 2B ran into each other, scoring a run. Max Belyeu then hit a sac fly to CF, brining home Jalin Flores to put Texas up 3-0.

Unfortunately the Cougars bounced right back in the Bottom 3rd as Houston led off with back to back singles, and then with 1 out Anthony Tulimero singled through the left side, bringing a runner home for Houston. The next batter walked, loaded the bases for freshman Ace Reese, which brought about some Ace on Ace violence as Reese hit a 2 RBI single to tie the ball game at 3-3.

In the Top 5th, freshman Dee Kennedy hit a boombah to left CF into the trees on a full count to give the Horns a 4-3 advantage. After Peyton Powell singled, Houston removed the starter Howard and brought in Ryan Dollar who immediately got Jalin Flores hit a grounder, which the Cougars pounced on and turned the double play. With two outs and nobody on, Kimble Schuessler crushed a fastball over the plate to LF that barely got a courtesy jog from the defense to make it 5-3 Horns.

In the Bottom 7th, Andre Duplantier who had not given up an earned run since the mid-week series against Air Force ran into trouble. Lead off hitter Coby DeJesus led off with a home run to LF on a 2-0 count and then Anthony Tulimero once again made his name known as he hit a home run to LF on a 1-1 count. That made it a tie ball game going into the 8th inning.

In the Top 8th inning, Texas led off the inning with a runner on 3B as Max Belyeu hit a deep fly ball to LF that Ace Reese misplayed. Unfortunately, Gasparino grounded out to the short stop on the first pitch he saw and then Galvan hit a sharp grounder to the SS who threw home, which saw Max get tagged by the catcher going home. Tommy Farmer then walked putting two men on with 2 outs, but Jared Thomas hit a fly ball to RF on a full count to end the threat. Massive opportunity missed there.

In the Top 9th, Dee Kennedy again led off the inning with a home run to left CF, in nearly the identical spot as before, also on a full count. HAVE YOURSELF A DAY YOUNG MAN! That was all Texas needed as Gage Boehm struck out the side to end the game and even the series. Game. Blouses.

BIG MOMENT

Mercy me, there were two absolutely massive moments in the ball game, so tonight we will do two, because I am the generalissimo of this thread and I feel like it.

Honorable Mention - A deep fly ball to the gap in left CF in the Bottom of the 8th inning had the potential to either score the go ahead run or put two runners in scoring position with just 1 out. Not only did that not happen, but freshman Tommy Farmer IV tracked down the ball, making the catch at the wall and then swiftly got the relay throw in to Flores who got it to Thomas for the double play to end the frame. DAMN fine play...DAMN FINE.

Moment of the Game - Freshman Dee Kennedy, leading off the Top 9th hit a no doubt boomba to left CF on a 3-2 count and he knew it.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE

Again, another tough one here, as the Horns had multiple guys stick out tonight.

Honorable Mention - Peyton Powell busted out of his slump in a big way going 4-5 on the evening, scoring 2 runs, while Kimble Schuessler went 3-4 on the evening with 1 run score, 3 RBI and a walk.

Freshman Dee Kennedy. Have yourself a night my man! Dee got bumped up to the 2 spot from the 9 spot and responded by going 2-5 with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI and 2 K. His home run in the 9th though propelled Texas to a win and brough that momentum and energy back to the lineup. Well done!

TAKEAWAYS

Definitely wasn't pretty, definitely wasn't clean, but it was a hell of a lot better than the abomination that we all saw last night.

Horns have a chance to win the series tomorrow and keep pace in the Big 12, while also getting a road win and trying to improve their overall resume.

Gotta get Jared Thomas and Max Belyeu going, especially if Powell and Flores are going to hit like they did tonight. Anything the Horns get from Kennedy this year is somewhat found money and if he continues to perform even close to what he did tonight, well, you take it with a smile.

Gotta say, I like the addition defensively of Tommy Farmer in LF. Yes, there are going to be some bumps and bruises as we saw tonight, but he has a lot of speed and the more experience he gets now helps Texas downt he road. I fully expect Porter to be back in the lineup sooner rather than later with the hope he can turn things around, but at this juncture, I'd rather see Gaspo, Farmer, and Kennedy getting all the reps they can for next year.

Four years in the making, the report has firmly established new, cautious policies on treating youth gender distress in England that are an ocean apart from the liberal treatment practices prevalent in blue U.S. states.

The report characterizes pediatric gender-transition treatment as based on “remarkably weak evidence.” This involves prescribing minors puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones — a medical practice that England’s recently-shuttered pediatric gender clinic enthusiastically observed and that all major U.S. medical societies support.

England joins an expanding crop of Western European and Scandinavian nations whose health authorities have each performed an about-face on this hot-button issue during the 2020s. These nations now prioritize psychological care for gender-distressed youths, a population that suffers from markedly high rates of other psychiatric disorders, suicidality and autism.
While the report is quintessentially British in its measured tone, it nevertheless offers a scathing critique of the efforts by the nation’s pediatric gender clinic to care for the fast-expanding population of adolescents, in particular biological girls, who are burdened by severe distress about their gender. It portrays prescribing practices as having strayed egregiously off-course from their relatively cautious origins, and from the evidence base.

Among the clinic’s many former staffers to have blown the whistle against it, claiming it provided shoddy care and often cursory screening before prescribing gender-transition treatment, is psychiatric nurse Susan Evans. She expressed vindication over the findings of the new report, which, she said, “recommends a holistic cautious psychological approach offering support and therapy rather than the more superficial affirmation approach and hormones as the first-line treatment.”

Laura Edwards-Leeper is an Oregon psychologist who helped first import the pediatric gender-transition treatment model to the United States from its roots in the Netherlands in 2007.More recently she has become a leading voice advocating caution from within the American field.

“If this isn’t the final reckoning for U.S. pediatric gender medicine, I’m not sure what will be,” Dr. Edwards-Leeper said of the English report’s long-awaited publication. “Now is the time for the field to catch up with much of the rest of the Western world and take an honest look at our current clinical practices for gender distressed young people.”

Quick note about Jonah Williams: He told @Suchomel that he talked to the coaches about an OV but they don’t have a date locked in yet.

Williams adding the Longhorns to his official visit list would obviously be huge because getting him won't hap[pen if they can't.

Would he re-arrange his Oregon official visit scheduled for June 21st? Probably not because the Ducks might be the outright leader for Williams coming into the weekend, if it's not Oklahoma. He's supposed to visit Ohio State on 6/14 and LSU is scheduled for 6/7. Can the Longhorns get him in for a visit in June?

His recruitment is getting very interesting.

At one time or another, we've all formed opinions about the lives of others. We create myths about life, based on our observations about that perfect family down the street, or that perfect couple we met last week, or that lady at work who just has it all together. As we go about living our own lives, they never seem as idyllic as the fantasies we've created from watching others. Maybe we don't really envy those other people, so much as we wonder where we went wrong, why doesn't our life look like theirs?

Growing up, there was a family in our little town that seemed to have it all, and in some ways, maybe they did. Their oldest child, a daughter, was flat-out gorgeous, and was as lovely on the inside as she was on the outside. She married a man who was as handsome as she was beautiful. Right out of a Rockwell painting. Yesterday I got a call that this lady's younger brother had been killed in an accident, so I started digging around to figure out the circumstances, and see what we could do to be helpful. Sadly, I learned that a few short years ago, this beautiful couple had lost an adult child, apparently to addiction. It all seemed so unjust, and I hated it for them. Out of this foul admixture of emotions, I came to realize that if I were making a deal with the devil to let me have their perfect lives, the cost would be one of my children, and a sibling.

Hard pass.

Bench press does not really determine how strong you are. It is just chest and arms.

Why doesn't the NFL scouts want to see how much the players could squat or do a leg press?

I can imagine if Earl Campbell, in his prime in 1977, went to the NFL combine and did a leg press, he would have set the standards for all the future running backs. Maybe even squats. There are many other ways to determine the true strength. Bench press may one of them but it would be far low down on my checklist.
