All the immigration attacks didn’t work this time

The Pubs spent like $10 million on ads hammering the Dem in the race to replace Santos on border and immigration issues.

Didn’t work.

Santos won in 2020 by 8. The Pubs lost this race by 8. 16 point swing.

Prelim of November. Pubs trying to hammer the Dems on immigration, the Dems hanging Trump over the heads of the Pubs.

Prelim round to the Dems.

This was a D+2 district. We will see how the message plays in different areas.

OT - Just had to put down my best friend

I know many of you have been through this before, but man this is way harder than I anticipated. We had to put down Rascal, our 12 year old australian shepherd (pic in my avatar) this morning. He was my first dog, and my best friend. He absolutely lived up to his name, and he was just a fantastic dog. The house feels empty without him, and I'm not sure what to do with myself at the moment. Apologies for the OT, but man this hurts.

Texas LB commit Deuce Williams loves his decision despite a coaching change at his position (story)

IMG_6361.jpg

The commitment of linebacker Anthony “Deuce” Williams to Texas came with a bit of an interesting backstory. Williams, out of Pearland Shadow Creek, had been a longtime UT lean but Texas was without a linebackers coach when Williams committed due to the scheduled departure of former linebackers coach Jeff Choate.

It didn’t matter. Williams was so sold on the UT program that he decided to go ahead and commit anyway, giving the Longhorns a pledge on January 1, the same day Texas would play Washington in the Sugar Bowl. Choate would leave for Nevada in the days that followed and Texas would hire Johnny Nansen less than a week later. Shortly after being announced to the UT staff, Nansen would pay Williams a visit at his school and in late January, Williams made his way to Austin for an official visit.

“It was a good experience. All the coaches came and gave me love. Coach Nansen, that was my second time meeting him because he came to the school once. Just coming to campus for the first time since committing, it was very exciting,” Williams said of that visit. “I can’t wait to get to campus and start the journey.”

The 6-3, 190-pound Williams spent time on that visit getting better acquainted with Nansen, and also worked on recruiting other players to commit to Texas, including Shadow Creek teammates Jacorey Watson and Cobey Sellers. The in-depth time spent with Nansen left Williams feeling great about his decision to commit to Texas.

“Coach Nansen is a great guy. Him and coach Choate are really similar, really cool guys,” Williams said. “They’re really real. They’re just very clear on what they have, and what expectations they have for you when you come to Texas. When you come to Texas, it’s a very high expectation for you to fill and play at Texas because not everyone gets a chance to come play at Texas.”

The January visit also reaffirmed to Williams that he chose Texas for not just one person. He’s developed connections with several members of the Texas coaching and support staff, and Williams loves the direction of the UT program under Steve Sarkisian.

“It was just the relationships with all the coaches. I’ve got relationships with coach Sark, his wife, coach Gideon, the corners coach, my linebacker coach, some of the other staff members,” Williams said. “It’s just a family-oriented thing. Them just being there and encouraging me to be at Texas, they want me to come on and have a great time and just fulfill those expectations.”

Williams is ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com. He chose the Longhorns over Auburn, Baylor, Notre Dame and Oregon.

Divorce question

My ex separated from me three months ago. I have not filed yet as we had been texting regularly and discussing possible reconciliation, although she was very vague about it and changes her mind frequently. It turns out she is living with another man in another state. She said he is an old friend who has been “pushing” for more despite her fragile state. She said she had nowhere else to go after our separation, even though she initially was staying with a female friend who still has most of her belongings. I then checked our healthcare account and found out she went to planned parenthood and got put on birth control as soon as she moved in with him. I checked our phone records and found out they were talking throughout the past year, including hours upon hours the weekend she broke up with me.

Is this enough to establish divorce for cause of adultery?

OT: Divorce Lawyer in Houston

Anyone have any good recs for a divorce lawyer in Houston. I have a coworker who has been going through hell with her current attorney. Basically, the attorney keeps forgetting to do basic stuff in preparation and the judge just skips over them because the attorney isnt prepared (forgetting to inform OAG Child Support, sending out wrong notification of trial dates, forgetting to include criminal charges in the case file, etc.). She's been really frustrated and basically told the attorney she wouldn't need her services anymore.

The entire divorce sounds like a pretty easy case, which is why she is getting so frustrated why it hasn't been taken care of yet. They have been together for 17 years or something, have 4 kids. She's been trying to leave the guy fully for 7 years but has been unsuccessful for multiple reasons. Guy convinced her to officially marry him 4 years ago, that was obviously a mistake and she has been separated from him for 2 years now. He's attached airtags to her car to track where she goes, has two protective orders against him, harrasses family and friends, manipulates the kids like crazy to report to him what she is doing, etc.

She gave me permission to throw out some of the details to see if I knew of anyone that could help her out. Figured the OB crew could help me point her in the right direction. He's been served with papers but he ignores them and hasn't showed up to any hearings from what I'm told. I want to say this whole process started like almost a year ago but I could be wrong.

California Senate Candidate Half Wit

Barbara Lee is running for the US Senate, and she thinks there should be a $50 minimum wage in CA. "Just do the math" she says.

I guess a year later when fast food is 3X she'll want to raise it to $75.

Don’t care if it’s wrong - Patrick Mahomes is my favorite QB I’ve ever seen play

Dude is just incredible. The best football talent I’ve ever seen. It’s so fun to watch him play. Congratulations to the Chiefs on a true dynasty and generational player🤝

LOL at Texas Tech for doing absolutely nothing with him at the college level. Imagine never winning more than 7 games in an entire season with Patrick fkn Mahomes as your QB💀
