This is a response on my post from last week with a story about Sinus and Snoring Specialists...

"Chad, I sent my wife to the snoring guy. I had begged her to get a sleep study for years and she never would. But I have gotten so much good intel from this site that when I said I heard about it on OB, she scheduled a meeting immediately. Yeah - turns out she has a “stops breathing” moment about once per minute. Thanks for bringing that to the board."

I love hearing stories like that. It reminds me of when I finally got my wife to go to Sinus and Snoring Specialists. Stay on that loved one that you know needs help. You never know what it's going to be that makes that bell go off for them.

Allergies, sinus issues, snoring, sleep apnea. It can all be a thing of the past.

Tell 'em you saw it on that crazy OB message board. Ok...let's get to some football.

Friday, Feb 21st was 190 days until Texas kicks off in Columbus. Y'all know I love a countdown. The basics are easy to predict. You can almost certainly plan for an 11am kick on Fox. GameDay and the Big Noon crew will be there. And we're very likely talking about a #1 vs #2 tilt to start the season. I've been thinking about the reaction to, and the stories after this game, all week.

The risks are obvious. A loss that early really sets you back. You'll just wish you had scheduled Lamar or some other easy win in its place. And if the main reason for the loss is Arch or Sark's play calling, or both, then there will be a lot of negative chatter to fill your September.

But that's no fun. Let's throw those shoulders back Texas fans...what if they win? What happens then? Well, that means you get a September pimp walk like no fan base has had in a while. The next 4 weeks will be San Jose St, UTEP, a Bye Week, and Sam Houston St. All the games are at home. You have a chance to really make some statements, and you'll head to The Swamp at 4-0 and probably #1 in America. If Arch has been at least good, he's in the Heisman discussion, if not the whole Heisman discussion. But that's not all. Consider the other players...

Florida has back to back trips to LSU and Miami before a Bye week leads them into the Texas game. You read that right. Obviously, if you want the most epic matchup in Gainesville, you root for the Gators to be undefeated. But let's say they lose one of those games. Texas would have a chance to hand them a 2nd loss on October 4th, and Florida would still have UGA, TN, and a trip to Oxford coming...

...Speaking of the Dawgs, they are at TN on 9/13 and host Bama on 9/27. So Bama OR Georgia WILL have a loss for sure, and UGA might have 2. Heck, Bama might have 2 by October. The Tide start the season with a trip to Tallahassee. You read that right too. Instead of their normal "home" game in ATL, they are @FSU. Bama will also host Wisconsin on 9/13. Both at least feel dangerous enough to mention. On Oct 4th, while Texas tussles with Florida, Bama hosts Vandy (head on a swivel Mr. Pavia). Then The Tide will still have games against TN, @SC, LSU, and @Aub coming.

Speaking of LSU, they start off with a Tiger fight at Clemson and go to Ole Miss on 9/27. The FL and Bama games have been mentioned, plus LSU hosts SC and finishes the season...wait for it...at OU. Bama fans might want me to mention that one. So tough.

Ok what about OU? And the Aggies? They both have 2 losable games before Oct 4. The Sooners host Michigan on 9/6 and Auburn on 9/20 (welcome back Mr Arnold). The Aggies also host Auburn on 9/27, two weeks after going to South Bend to take on ND. Raise your hand if you think the Aggies win both of those... FOR SURE... right? Right. Also, A&M hosts FL the week after TX plays the Gators. The Aggies also have road games at LSU and Missouri. I'm sure both those teams have forgotten 2024. And, of course, The Longhorns finish with The Aggies. Last season, even with A&M's stumbles, both teams had control of their destiny in the last game. That couldn't possibly be the case this year, could it?

I see one team among the big dogs with only one dangerous game before Oct 4th outside of Texas and Ohio St, and that's Oregon. They do face 2 OSUs, but they are Oklahoma State and Oregon State, and both are at home. The danger game for me is at Penn St on 9/27. If The Ducks get by that undefeated, they have a chance to get on a nice run before a USC, @Wash finish. So The Ducks will get some press. But would they get more than an Arch Manning led Texas team that beat The Buckeyes and is heading to The Swamp? Oh... I think not.

Every game can be a land mine. Gotta take 'em as they come. But we all realize not every schedule is created equal. Just ask Florida and OU fans from last year. When Florida is in the middle of that LSU-Miami road double, someone will look up what I just did and realize the opportunity Texas has. ESPECIALLY if they beat Ohio St. The Horns' schedule is perfectly set up when it comes to land mines. There are 3. They are far apart and clearly marked. Get by #1, gain momentum until October. Get by that one? A chance to set up an all timer on Nov 15th. All the while, your biggest threats and rivals around the country seem to have MORE tough games that are, in many cases, MUCH closer together.

Each season is its own animal and teams I am not considering may step forward, but the SEC feels like last year to me. The Bama/FL/UGA/LSU group has a TOUGH road while the two Texas schools have very livable schedules...if you're good enough.

So, back to the front. What if Texas wins in Columbus? Well, there's a decent chance they get to Oct 4th and......

They are 4-0, Ohio St has a loss, Bama or UGA has a loss, LSU has a loss, TN has a loss, A&M has a loss, OU has a loss, and Florida has a loss. And a couple of those could have 2 losses.

There will be chaos all around Texas in September. But if they handle business at the Shoe, the chaos will be outside of DKR while Arch, Sark, and what looks to be another pretty good defense, get to beat up the teams they are supposed to and gather all the momentum and all the hype in a way we've never seen.

*PLUS, no danger of anybody getting hurt in a Spring Game now. Touché Sark. Touché.
