Wanted to reach out to my OB family to get support for a great Marine and an even greater cause.
The cause is Homeless Veteran Services of Dallas powered by the Veteran Resource Center. One of North Texas' strongest organizations supporting our veterans in multiple areas. Since opening our doors, we have served over 70,000 unique veterans and their families. And frequently we are dealing with our most vulnerable veterans. We offer support in the following areas
One of our biggest fundraisers every year is the R Lee Ermey Memorial Golf Classic. Don't recognize the name? That's OK, many don't. You know the face of this iconic Marine and award-winning actor, better known as "The Gunny", R Lee starred in over 80 films, TV shows, and commercials. He was a long-time friend of our program and annually emceed our sponsor dinner.
Gunny loved his golf, his cigars and his fun. Our tournament brings all of those. Hand-rolled cigars for each golfer, great food, good times.
Come join us, or sponsor an active duty team or just make a donation to our great cause on 26 April at Bear Creek. Thanks to our sponsors, 100% of the funds raised will go to support Homeless Veteran Services of Dallas.

- As the name says, we are a day center for our Homeless Veterans. We offer them 2 meals a day, and access to showers and laundry facilities. Support with VA claims filing, and referrals to mental and physical health counseling.
- We offer (through Dallas Community College) on-site skilled labor training which leads to certification and a high demand for services. Currently, we are hosting welding, forklift driving and computer classes.
- Employment counseling. One of our homeless veterans is a Navy Vet with an MBA (no shit). Jerry now runs the employment center which in just over a year has placed over 500 veterans into new jobs.
- Claim filing services for the VA. A very important service we offer to all veterans. This also includes temporary and long term housing solutions.
- Referrals to mental and physical health counseling. We are not nor can we be all things to all veterans. We have an extensive network of partners who can serve the needs of our veterans. On location, we have the Military Veteran Peer-to-Peer Network and other organizations.
