Does anybody have any insight on what to expect? Who will start or where does the dept chart stand? Do we expect to red shirt anybody? I don't really understand why but, most of these LBs except Boyd are listed as Outside LB.

Malik Jefferson: Enough said.

Breckyn Hager: I am not sold on him as a starter, but, love the guy. I wouldn't complain if he gets a lot of time.

Edwin Freeman: He was a 4* and a redshirt FS out of '14 class. I have no idea on how he will do. The videos of him I saw were okay-was more interested in stripping the ball

Anthony Wheeler: Strong dude. 4* out of the '15 class. He seemed to be a good against the run whether at MLB or on the line.

Cameron Townsend was redshirted. He was a 4* last year. I saw film of him in high school and looked very fast and could fight through blockers. Speed pass rusher type

Demarco Boyd: 3* early enrollee.

Erick Fowler: 4*-Is he expected to have a Malik type impact?

Jeffrey McCulloch: 4*-Will he have the impact more so than Fowler?

Clob would be the guy to talk to. He has more access. I can't see what I need to see on a typical TV broadcast. I need the wide and the endzone coaches film. My biggest complaint with the LBs was that if they tended to stay blocked as backs ran by them. At this level you are going to get blocked every play and based on the TV broadcast it looked like our guys had trouble getting off blocks. Malik was the exception he is so fast he was able to out run lineman and make plays before he was able to get blocked.

The other thing that hurt was the amount of snaps using a 3 man line. It was used to protect the lack of depth in experience in the defensive backfield but it meant our young LBs were having to go more one on one with O Lineman. These guys are young and there so hopefully another year in the weight room and better DB play will help them out a Ton.

The concern next year is on the D-Line. No Tank, No Ridgeway. Poona and Boyette showed something last year but is there enough depth on the D-Line to occupy line man so these young fast LBs can run down backs for 1-2 yard gains.

Out of the 5 freshman DTs, at least 2 are going to have to play a lot and 1 more will play some. So how good we're going to be up front is how good some of the incomings can play.

For Gods sake tell me that Santos is finally gone....

Now that 5 Star Browning has decommitted from Baylor, any chance he ends up in Austin? I read that TCU has the inside track

And don't forget PJ Locke III. He made a textbook, old school hit against Baylor that caused their qb to fumble and knocked him out of the game.

I hope speedstrength is right and we are able to run more 4 man DL because of more experienced DB's.

A couple of the incoming freshmen on the DL really need to step up and give us some quality plays.

If that happens, the LB's with another year in the weight room should be pretty salty next year. Curious to see what Townsend brings.

I think we need to play Malik in a role that gives him more freedom. MLB should be handled by Freeman, Hager, or Wheeler, whoever wins the job. Malik should get the other LB spot with Hughes as the Fox. Although I am intrigued with Malik at the Fox as well.
