I know Sam is our guy, however I couldn't help but notice the quietly good end of year that his Austin-based QB rival put together. Although the win-loss record doesn't favor him, Charlie Brewer exceeded expectations and out-performed Sam in certain areas (on a terrible Baylor team too).

Check out the comparison below:

Sam Ehlinger (2017)
4-star Dual Threat QB, 5.9 Rivals Rank, 115 National Rank, 17 State Rank, 5 Position Rank
  • Games Played ( 9 )
  • Completions / Attempts / Completion % ( 147 / 260 / 56.5 )
  • Yards / Yards per Attempt / Yards per Game ( 1,803 / 6.94 / 200.3)
  • Touchdowns / Interceptions ( 10 / 7 )
  • QB Rating / Adjusted QBR ( 122.1 / 47.1 )
  • Rush Carries / Rush Yards / Touchdowns ( 103 / 368 / 2 )
  • Win-Loss Record ( 4 - 4 ); Kansas game not counted

Charlie Brewer (2017)

3-star Pro Style QB,5.6 Rivals Rank, No National Rank, No State Rank, No Position Rank
  • Games Played ( 7 )
  • Completions / Attempts / Completion % ( 139 / 204 / 68.1 )
  • Yards / Yards per Attempt / Yards per Game ( 1,562 / 7.66 / 223.1)
  • Touchdown / Interceptions ( 11 / 4 )
  • QB Rating / Adjusted QBR ( 146.3 / 61.2 )
  • Rush Carries / Rush Yards / Touchdowns ( 65 / 166 / 0 )
  • Win-Loss Record ( 1 - 4 ); West Virgina and Oklahoma St. games not counted

So, who would you take now if you had to re-sign the 2017 recruiting class? Is it too soon to tell?

Fun Facts:

Robert Brewer, Charlie's father, was the 1982 Cotton Bowl MVP as a quarterback for Texas leading a come from behind victory against Alabama. Rob Moerschell, is Charlie's uncle and was a key player for the Longhorns in the early 1980's. And Brewer's grandfather, Charles Brewer, was also a starting quarterback for Texas during the 1950's.
