I am in the minority. I like that Texas rotates its running backs if (and it’s a big IF) the second and third backs are productive and effective at an 80% or better rate as the lead back. Bijan is the lead runner for Texas in 2021. He should get 15 carries and 2 catches a game at a minimum. So, who’s the number 2 back? It could be a four-way competition between Keontay Ingram, Roschon Johnson, LJ Johnson, and Jonathon Brooks.

TALE OF THE TAPE
Keontay: experienced, good blocker, good pass catcher, a few fumbles, smart, makes the first guy miss, not good at the goalline or in short yardage, talk of the transfer portal.

Roschon: ultimate team guy, heart for days, lack of speed, runs hard, not a big play threat, rarely makes guys miss, smart, former QB, good short yardage runner, not a fluid receiver.

Johnson (HS tape): quick through the hole, decisive, gets north-south quickly, runs through arm tackles, doesn’t have elite speed, runs low and behind his pads, played at a high level, NOT committed to the Horns.

Brooks (HS tape): more elusive than Johnson and slightly faster, has nice moves, great vision, played at a lower level, finds the endzone, very good pass catcher, COMMITTED to the Horns.

I think Keontay is RB2 and Roschon is the goalline/short yardage back in 2021. I think Johnson, assuming he signs with Texas, is the third RB getting a series a half and mop-up carries. Brooks has to wait until 2022.
