This 100%. If a dude doesn't think he is getting his NIL, then **** off. You don't want selfish dudes. Muhammad is very good, but there are other talented dudes out there. He isn't Deion.
I get it that everyone tried to avoid throwing at JB too much but ol' Muhammad.....man...good dude but holy crap did he get burned a lot. I hope he stays and improves his game thus more nfl $$$ in the long run BUT nobody is good enough to strong arm the program right now.

If you're chasing a bigger bag then go for it. Go get your paycheck, we definitely don't want anyone spreading sour vibes in the locker room. Thanks for your contribution thus far.

This. Shit like that is a culture killer...a cancer. Don't cede, don't panic. Trust your own process as a coach, especially when you're experiencing success.

I don’t know if you can say they’ll be “better” when you’re losing both tackles to the 1st round and the all time false start record holder at center, but I think there will be more talent on the line next year.

You can't replace Banks, but Williams is replaceable. Even though he is projected for 1st round doesn't mean he actually played like that. He gave up a bunch of pressures against Georgia and averaged 2 penalties a game. He let the Ohio St guy go by him untouched on that 4th down.

Cole Hudson will be back also or has he replaced Majors on your s*** list 😂

He probably will, lol.

Hutson is in line for C, but Robertson is coming for it too!

I think Goosby and Baker are set for the tackle spots, unless someone surprises.

Campbell is RG

Umi, Hutson, Cruz, Robertson will all battle for the either the LG or C position

Talent will not be an issue, experience certainly will.

Look I love what Ewers did for Texas we all did. Since Ohio State I think he was Ehlinger with a better coach and better team surrounding him. That being said his injuries affected our offense.

I wonder was our offensive line really all that I mean we gave up 31 sacks. And to put it mildly our running game struggled. Against Ohio State he threw a ball to Helm that was just off target. At times he couldn't get set when he there the ball.

So can a mobile qb make that much of a difference. And you know we're losing a lot of good players but will we really miss them? Maybe Banks or Helm. But I think we have a lot of good players to replace them I'm optimistic about Goolsby and Wingo even Will Stone.

And in 226 days were going to go Columbus and here even with those guys.

We had some top tier dudes but ultimately they weren't the correct dudes to complement each other in this scheme.

QE is legit qb but he is a pocket guy. Fine but then you MUST have a TE that is elite at blocking to make it work. Nope. Helm was elite being a target which would be perfect for a mobile qb but he was just ok at blocking.

Ok ok, there's another option to make this less than ideal mismatch work better. A bruising fall fwd rb like Ced Benson. Um...nope, we didn't have that either but we did have a pair of electric pass catching speed backs.

So you end up with what we saw all year. Easily move between the 20s but struggle with a condensed redzone. Even Sark said he was fine with penalties giving us more field to work with.

Looking fwd to seeing how we perform after losing soo many guys to the draft.

@clob94 has Sark called you to coach RB lol.

Who is the top RB coach that is available and who would you think would be a great hire for Texas?

Luper at Mizzu is the way to go. But I doubt we can nab him. Dude is a heckuva coach.

Top candidates in order:

Carlos Locklyn, Ohio State running backs coach

Ra'Shaad Samples, Oregon running backs coach/assistant head coach

Khenon Hall, Baylor running backs coach/associate head coach

I like the Samples option. Texas kid. Great recruiter.
Next man up baby!
We don’t rebuild! We reload!!!

@clob94 you say meh. Can you elaborate further oh meh and do you believe he could have hired a more prestigious coach? I do not know much of this RB coach and I believe this is more of a recruiting hire but what do I know. Exactly nothing but I am puzzled by this hire.

He's never coached at a school that's known for a punishing running game.
Troy.
Texas Tech.
Kentucky.
West Virginia.

Without looking it up-- tell me the last back he had that went for 1000 yards in the regular season. Not regular season + bowl game.

You can't.

Why?

Because he hasn't coached at team that's known for being able to effectively run the football. This is the SEC. I know the conference has gone a little pass happy in the last half decade or so- but you STILL have to run the football.
Mizzu's RB coach has had 2 different RB's go for a thousand in the last 3 seasons. One went for almost 1700. (Cody Schrader)

Dude gets more out of less talent than pretty much anybody in college football. Mizzu ain't raking in 5 star recruits- but that guy still manages to have yard hogs.

Sounds a lot like Tashard Choice, here is what he did prior to landing at Texas.

Notable players coached

In his first year leading a room, Choice coached a North Texas team that was led in rushing by freshman Deandre Torrey. That year, Torrey burst onto the scene with 977 rushing yards and 17 all-purpose touchdowns.

The following year, he returned home to take over the running back room of his alma mater at Georgia Tech. Sophomore Jordan Mason led the team that year with 899 rushing yards. Mason may be a familiar name, as he had a career year in 2024 for the San Francisco 49ers.

Choice coached Lions star running back Jahmyr Gibbs for the final two years of his tenure with the team. In two years with the program, Gibbs notched 1,206 rushing yards and eight touchdowns before transferring to Alabama for his final season.

After the 2021 campaign, Choice went to Texas to coach the Longhorns.

You probably said the same thing about Baker when he replaced Bo Davis and look how that has turned out. Yes there was juicer names like Samples from Oregon or the Baylor running back coach. But he did turn a tight end into a running back to give them a 1000 yard rusher as a freshman and now will be playing for Ohio State next year.
