Big pick-up on Thursday night for the Longhorns in landing offensive lineman Jake Majors.

As most of you are probably aware, Majors' decision has pretty much been made up for a while. When I spoke to him last Wednesday to to preview his upcoming UT unofficial visit, Majors told me he was 90 percent sure he was going to commit and he went ahead and gave me quotes for a story, sent me a pic for an edit, etc. The only thing that was keeping it from being 100 percent in his mind was he wanted to come to campus on Saturday with his parents and let them get a better feel for things before he made it official.

Majors came in Saturday afternoon, spent some time around the staff and the other recruits, went to the basketball game and then met with the coaches. It was at that time, about 9:30 on Saturday night, that he made it official and informed the coaches.

Getting Majors is big from a talent perspective (more on that in a second) but it's also big because he and the other O-linemen around the state have really started to bond, especially the guys Texas had on campus last weekend. Majors and Texas commit Logan Parr have gotten close and they're both friends with guys like Chad Lindberg and Jaylen Garth ... and both Majors and Parr are very personable and don't mind being active recruiters for Texas.

As for the talent, Majors is ranked as a three-star prospect but the film sure as hell looks better than that to me. I don't usually get too heavily involved in rankings input, but I'll definitely be putting in a request to the guys who do the Rivals rankings to take another look at his junior film.

One last note (warning ... big-time tease coming): Majors wasn't the only prospect who gave me a commitment quote heading into last weekend's visit. That player decided to wait things out a bit, but needless to say, the Longhorns are trending well there. As I've said previously, last weekend was an extremely productive weekend for Texas across the board with the 2020 players that were on campus (minus one).
