As you all know by now, the nation's No. 1-ranked prospect, Houston Episcopal DT Marvin Wilson, made his way to Austin today to take in the Longhorns' spring practice.

I have yet to hear back from Wilson directly, but I did connect with a couple other people tonight who told me they felt like the visit went very well.

Wilson's mother was in attendance. His father was not, but I believe he'll be when Wilson returns on his next visit, whenever that is.

The entire Texas staff was involved in the visit from what I'm told. As one person told me, there's a long, long way to go with this one but Texas just has to keep making good impressions and UT feels it did just that on Tuesday. There's some thought that Wilson's familiarity with the defensive staff and Charlie Strong will be a huge selling point that could help the Longhorns in the long run (compared to the offensive side of the ball where just about everyone is new).

Texas, like everyone else, is really expressing to Wilson that he'll have a chance to play right away. I mentioned to one person that I'm not sure Wilson wouldn't be in the rotation if he was on the UT roster right now and the source laughed but was in agreement with me. That's how highly thought-of Wilson is.
