It's been a crazy active recruiting weekend for the Longhorns, with two commitments (Hudson Card, Tyler Johnson) on Friday and one more (Jared Wiley) on Saturday.
The good news is there are a couple other guys out there who could drop their news at any time. I mentioned earlier in the week that one had postponed his decision and everyone assumed it was Tyler Johnson ... it's not. I don't have a clear timetable on when an actual final decision will be announced (I believe one will happen in June ... the other is more up in the air), just know that Texas is in a great spot behind the scenes with a couple other guys.
That's the good news ... now for a bit of not-so-great news. Heading into his USC official visit, all signs pointed to wide receiver Jake Smith siding with Texas. He's down to the Longhorns and the Trojans, and Texas really blew him and his family away during his visit for the Orange-White game. I still like Texas' chances since UT will get the final visit (next weekend), but I was told by a USC source that the Trojans are confident they'll land Smith. Apparently, that was the vibe from people closely associated with the USC program in the days following Smith's official visit. We'll see. Texas will almost certainly make a strong impression of its own next weekend, but this one may not be quite as locked in as some have assumed.
