Here are a few quick notes from football practice today, we'll have a more comprehensive update a bit later.
- It was the first day in full pads on Thursday, the third practice of spring.
- A couple of players got banged up including LT Connor Williams with an apparent foot. It does not appear to be major as he stayed at practice with his helmet on and watched drills, but it'll be worth monitoring. Tristan Nickelson moved into his spot from second-team right tackle. Taking over for Nickelson at second RT was Ronnie Major.
- Also getting a little hurt was LB Edwin Freeman; with a foot as well. I was told during spring conditioning drills a month or so back that Freeman was a bit banged up, so this could be a recurrence and likely no big deal. Again, just something to keep an eye on. Anthony Wheeler filled in for Freeman at the second-team will and Cameron Townsend was his replacement at first-team sam when the team went to its "base" 4-3 package during inside run-drills.
- LG Brandon Hodges, who missed much of Monday practice, was back on Thursday (and actually on Wednesday as well per one person at practice) and working with the first team.
- WR Armanti Foreman was also a full-participant Wednesday.
- As for the split of QB reps, it was fairly even between five players through positional and seven-on-seven work. During team work however, only Kai Locksley was left out. Shane Buechele got more work than in the previous practice open to the media and looked noticeably more comfortable.
