I was able to connect with new DL offer Sawyer Goram-Welch this morning via text. The Oklahoma State commit out of Longview doesn't have a Texas visit set up yet, but that will likely change before the day is out.
Goram-Welch tells me he'll "most likely" take a Texas official visit. UT coaches will be by to see him later today and he said they'll probably talk then about setting something up. I'm supposed to connect with Goram-Welch tonight for a follow-up.
There's been chatter that Texas cornerback commitment Kitan Crawford may be looking around but I wouldn't hit the panic button there just yet. Crawford tells me a few schools reached out to him on Sunday and Monday but he's "legit with Texas." The issue here will be if something happens with Jason Washington ... that could make this one interesting because Crawford has a good relationship with Washington. Crawford did tweet out on Sunday that he's still solid, but he's also not scheduled to be an early enrollee so he could possibly wait to see how the coaching staff shakes out before signing if he wanted to (he hasn't mentioned that to me, just pointing it out).
Exchanged messages with a couple different people on Texas wide receiver commitment Quentin Johnston. Someone close to him at his school said he hadn't heard anything on Johnson wanting to look around or other schools picking up their interest, but a TCU source tells me the Horned Frogs are going to try to make a run and will likely be by to see Johnston this week.
As I said in my 3-2-1, Texas is going to have to deal with some of these types of situations, and there will likely be a couple others as well. Look for the UT staff to try to calm the waters with school/home visits this week, and answering some of the unknowns for the commits (coaches, schemes, etc) should help the staff manage any concerns. Nothing to get too freaked out about just yet, but definitely situations worth monitoring.
