This one hits home in a hard way.

I don't know that there's even an Orangebloods.com that I could have established had it not been for the impact that Blanks and the other members of the 1989-89 Texas basketball team had on me when I was 13-years old.

The freaking Lance Dance, man. As a kid that grew up rooting against Texas, Blanks made UT feel cool to me in a way that the football program in the late 80s couldn't do.

Four years later, I was preparing to enter UT as a student.

Over the years, I've had a chance to talk with Lance on a number of occasions and he was a frequent guest on my radio show. No matter how busy he was, he never turned down a request. No matter what was going on, he always picked up his phone. No matter what.... he was always a nice, kind and considerate man.

My soul aches for his friends and family. Their loss cannot be ,measured. Hell, I'm sitting here feeling pretty numb, myself.

I once joked with Lance about the impact that he'd had on my life and you know what he told me?

"Thank you, Geoff."

No, Lance, forever and always... thank you.

Rest in peace and power. You'll be greatly missed.
