The more I examine the campaign of Donald Trump, the more I see a P.T Barnum style ruse. It is true evidence of Donald Trump's powers of persuasion that he has succeeded in convincing so many media members that he is a right-wing extremist. However, a leopard cannot change its spots, and Trump has not changed his political beliefs, no matter what he declares or how loudly he declares it.

Most conservatives rigorously oppose destructive and imbalanced taxes and view free trade as the only way to guarantee America's status as a leader of the free world. Trump opposes this ideology. He wants to raise taxes, impose tariffs that restrict free trade, and increase the tax burden on American corporations. The Trump stance on property rights is similarly pathetic. He has stated, many times, that he supports the government using its power of eminent domain to violate the property rights of it citizens.

Regarding firearms, Trump now asserts that he is carrying a gun off and on to keep us all on our toes, but this is a decidedly new tune for the Donald. Not so long ago, Trump adopted a decidedly middle-of-the-road position, in his book he clearly stated that he supports the Clinton-era weapons ban.

Which brings me to immigration. Trump has taken to making outlandish assurances about making Mexicans build a wall to restrict their entry into America. Additionally, he has called for a ban on allowing Muslims to immigrate to the United States. Trump’s immigration rhetoric rings shockingly hollow given that in 2012, Trump told the press that Mitt Romney failed in part because he was too hard on immigration. Moreover, for all of Trump's rants about the evils of undocumented workers, it seems Trump does not practice what he preaches

When I view Donald Trump, this is what I see — a archetypal, well-to-do European styled liberal who would (further) socialize our healthcare system, raise our taxes, reduce our economy, while emasculating our military.
