For anyone that believes the notion that my article on Tuesday was an attempt to carry water for Herman, I'll remind you a few things...

a. No one has been more critical of Herman than I have been in the last four years.

b. I have called for him being replaced.

c. I literally wrote this two days before....

"
The truest thing that any person has ever said anywhere on earth in any language is that a football team takes on a reflection of its head coach.

The Texas football program is a reflection of Tom Herman.

That's not a compliment.

Never has that truth been known more than today against an Oklahoma team that was so ready to be taken to the cleaners by a good Texas team that it benched its quarterback in the middle of the first half out of ineffectiveness.

And Texas still lost...

It didn't lose because it quit. It didn't lose because OU had better players. It lost because it can't ever do the little things correctly. In fact, it does the finer details of the sport in such an awful way that only Charlie Strong can quite find any empathy for those involved.

Yes, the game went to four overtimes. Yes, it will be remembered for the chaos at the end. Yes, there will be those that will act like this was some kind of classic. It wasn't.

This game was trash and neither team really deserved to win it, but they played four overtimes anyway until someone made a play to lose it. Truthfully, both teams tried in the third overtime and couldn't get out of the other's way.

What we're left with is this close loss that will be remembered for being close when it should mostly be remembered for being a pool of vomit. You'll forgive me if I can't stop thinking about the vomit.

The truth of the matter is that this team plays exactly like Tom Herman pretty much does everything and that added to up to another loss today."

*******

I have no problem with taking questions about the reporting. I have no problem with talking about the motives of my sources, which I feel like was outlined in the article.

But, carrying water for anyone at this point seems like a strange idea since we're in the business of selling subs and people don't sign up when the product sucks.
