Couple things that stand out after rewatching
  • Cole Hutson got absolutely abused all game, why was he not substituted out? I know he’s young and still maturing, but he solely was responsible for 3 or 4 drives stalling out. If Campbell doesn’t know the playbook then I think it would be a pretty good idea for someone to teach it to him
  • This was Techs super bowl, and we just didn’t match their intensity. Our coaches have to be able to sense this and help dial things up with play calling, scheme and with taking chances that help the players sense that their “normal” play isn’t going to cut it
  • Donovan Smith played out of his mind. He controlled the game, and really was the difference in the game. His feet converted 4 of the 6 4th downs
  • Tech had alllll of the lucky bounces - how did Smith get tackled, and fumbled the ball amidst 4 of our guys, and he fell on top of it?
  • Outside of the first possession of the second half when our defense stopped them on their own 40, Sarks play calling really wasn’t that conservative, it just wasn’t high probability and good. That being said, that first possession where we run it 3 times out of 4 plays, was abysmal
  • It’s criminal we haven’t leveraged Sanders or Helm to open up the middle of the field.
  • Contrary to popular beliefs, our defensive scheme wasn’t bad… when you force your opponent to have drives that consist of 11, 9, 13, etc play drives.. it’s not scheme it’s playmaking and effort. We didn’t give up big chunk plays, or have a bunch of missed assignments, we essentially stopped 8 of their drives… they just gambled and we didn’t get them off the field. In short, we didn’t make a play, or force them to make an error
  • We need play makers on the defensive side of the ball in a major way
  • The refs allowing holding by techs OL every play is just awful, in addition though not looking at The potential fumble by Tech in the early, and Whittingtons potential foot in bounds on a potential 3rd down conversion late in the 4th were bad too. You have to slow it down and take a look at those. ESPN not running it back and looking at those as well hurt us.
