aggy implosion continues: Mannie Netherly decommits, cites WR coach's tweets about Tater Tot

But, Hamm told everyone that they just got the next great WR coach in Moorehead.

In classic Aggie form, everyone on TexAgs is saying how they didn't want the two WR recruits anyway and that they probably can't hang in the SEC. Everyone over there says they knew Tate was leaving anyway so nothing new. They are going all in on the kids and being soft and I probably agree that if a tweet is something that will change your college decision then you were probably looking for a reason to go somewhere else, but wholy crap, can a coach seriously be that dumb to think it won't have repercussions?

It wasn't just a simple tweet though, it said a lot about his character as a coach. I knew kids were going to be looking at him sideways, after they saw it. This is what happens when you do things the wrong way, and have a weak foundation...it looked good for minute, but it came crumbling down. Thank God for how Strong is building Texas back up. It matters.

aggy will be relegated to competing with Texas State for 2* & 3* recruits before all is said and done.

...I'm sure they will find some kind of victory in being subjected to the scrap heap of SEC SEC SEC.

Couple of things:

1) Moorehead is at his 4th school in 6 years so the level of dumbassery involved with his anger over loyalty is staggering. But aggy. Moorehead has the emotional intelligence of a 5 year old.

2) Wonder if Rumlin is awake yet and if so if he's mad.

I don't care what the situation, until there is recourse for players that sign up coaches that bolt coaches need to shut up about loyalty from recruits. A prospect leaving you jilted for a better situation is no different than you leaving the a whole team in your rearview. And unless a coach has only been with one school his entire career he has bolted on players that signed up to play for him.

Not to mention Martell gave plenty of foresight of this happening and left plenty of time to recover. He could have let it all go down in secret.

I won't even make fun of Martell and his half shirts and his blue steel poses anymore after he caused this shit show. Well done, junior. :D

a 17 year old boy in this day and age of " look at me" with facebook, twitter, snapchat, facetime...jeesh...and many more would never let that drama go down without acting the way he did. Like it or not, these coaches have to tread on eggshells with these guys or they end with a PR disaster. I fault the coach with this, they should have let tate have his moment and just be done with it. He should have never replied like that.

It goes along with how aggies think. everyone is weak unless they so to a&m

A&M as we know it is dead. It’s no coincidence that their downfall shadowed that of their hero Manziel. As his career crashed and burned, so did A&M’s reputation. It’s pretty bad when your coach is begging for an NFL job that he is wholly unqualified for to get away from the dumpster fire he’s created while running this program

That's harsh!

Are we sure it's really Morehead talking or is this an attempt by Figgy boy to draw attention away from his fake accounts and false flag tweets..... :D

Guess this answers that question:

Chs8MMiWkAEOn5m.jpg

But right after his inflammatory tweets.....he took them down and then made a few tweets essentially saying "I wasn't talking about Tate y'all" and then saying "I didn't even know about Tate when I made those ironically connected comments".

So the above new post, while I like that it takes some responsibility.....it admits that he is a liar.....and shows that his comments and quick cover up was childish and pure BS.

Stay classy Aggy.

They are already doing the last part. But they have always been moral victory U that only dreams of titles. And for most of their stay in the BigXII, they were already at the bottom of the BigXII South conference totem pole in results. Fighting with BU for last place. While OU and UT were at the top and winning the CCs. And OSU and TT closely behind. ATM and BU were having OT brawls in their games to determine last place in the division.

Just trying to interpret your post. BTW - there are 2 whole threads on "Baylor getting rapier". If that's your intent you should visit those threads - I'm sure it will make your day.

Rape never makes my day. Aggies shooting themselves, hysterical. And Oakman didn't go to Boise. This is about reputation, not litigation.

I just can't believe he posted crap like that and expect that kids these days aren't going to take it in a bad way. Look, I would imagine that most of you would agree with what he is saying that kids these days will flip flop much more than they would have years ago. Kids aren't loyal. They simply want to be the show and get all the attention. It is an era of it's all about me. For a kid to read that and think that it's wrong proves that point in itself. What other coach is this kid going to play for? One who lies to him to get him to come to that program? DUMB, DUMB, DUMB thing to post by Moorehead. You simply CAN'T post crap like that and think kids aren't going to flake out right away. This receiver has said and done far worse I can can assure you. I would have liked to have had both kids so I won't say we didn't need them. Mainly we don't need this kind of attention. I'm more worried about Sumlin and his inability to hang on to recruits and coach this football team. There is a lot of talent there right now that should produce on the field this year, but I don't think he can do it.

He's the wrong person to deliver that message. Part of his job is predicated on convincing other kids to be disloyal. There is no loyalty in recruiting and he is part of that.

1) He is the last person to lecture on loyalty. 4 jobs in 6 years. How many kids did he leave?

2) He was acting more juvenile in his posts, than most of these teenagers do.

3) His point is mute. I don't agree with it. A verbal commit in a JR year is nothing. It was a kid who got emotional after a camp or a phone call and said he liked you. A lot changes by the time he signs on the dotted line.

Verbals mean little nowadays. And coaches know that. So no need to cry about it. The decommit from this kid was seen as inevitable months ago. At least he did it now. Not on signing day. The coach needs to act like an adult and go get to work. Instead of throwing a tantrum. Not the kind of coach I'd want mentoring my kid. And I'd say the same thing if a UT coach did this. I'd want him fired. Twitter is not your place to air your boo hoos.....especially not the more respectable and public job you have. You have to act like a pro.

You certainly won't see me crying on my business website when something bad happens with my company. Instead, I get to work.

This is the main gyst of the story people should focus on.

It's Discipline vs Dogma. The way we think things should be, versus the way they are.

I think we all agree loyalty, for both player/recruit and coach, is a term lost on both. We've pretty much all thought there are too many kids nowadays, with their diva hat shows and committing-decommitting-recommitting-decommitting for no other reason than they weren't shown the proper amount of "love", are too much about the process and not enough about what university is really the best for them. I can't say that I haven't read some of Coach Moorehead's exact sentiments on this board, and others.

And coaches are no different. Some bolt at the drop of a hat. Moorehead himself has been at multiple jobs in the last several years. Either he's getting fired constantly, or he's always looking for greener pastures himself. Either way, he has almost none of the loyalty of which he speaks/tweets.

Too bad rivals and twitter wasn't around when he was recruited. One has to wonder if he was always a commit to the college he went to in Illinois. Or if he ever changed his 'verbal'.

As coach:

Actual this story is getting better by the minute.

Now I don't like helicopter dads. But when a staff has a star kid in its fold...and a new OC is hired.....the HC or an assistant might want to call the kid and let him know that they still view him as a key piece to their team....and even better that new OC might want to once pick up the phone or at least say hello to the kid when he visits multiple times in a 3 month span. Not even a "hey kid, I'll hopefully be your new OC one day and am excited about how you fit in our O". Martells dad seems to be level headed and telling it like it is. And what it is....is not good for Aggie.

The father of five-star 2017 QB Tate Martell says his son decommited from Texas A&M due to the hiring of former UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone.

Al Martell, Tate's dad, said the family was not kept in the loop about seismic program shifts, even during multiple campus visits to College Station. "It was different with Mazzone with the whole communication," Al Martell said. "Mazzone had been there two weeks for our visit in January, he had been there maybe all of 10 days ... I get that but when you go out a month later, for two days on that trip, didn’t talk to him once and then when we were there in March for their scrimmage, again, we were there for four days and not once did Mazzone ever talk, and I was five feet from him. Not a handshake, not anything." While Mr. Martell believes Mazzone likes his son, he stated a belief that he's never, during a 35-year coaching career, coached a QB under 6-foot-2. Tate Martell is 5-foot-11. "In Mazzone’s defense maybe that’s where it kind of stems from because everybody he’s offered, even the kids a couple weeks ago, 6-2 and 6-4," Al said.
