So I had a funny interaction today….

I’m currently in Taiwan exploring and what not. Having a good time. I’m doing a group tour to Thousand Island Lake and a tea plantation. All super pretty.

Anyway, there’s people from different parts of the world. Americans, French, Polish, and Dutch. For the most part everyone is pretty polite and easy to talk to. I’m the only white American. The others are actually from Japan, India, and china I believe, but all moved to America and are citizens now.

The Dutch guy seems nice enough at first. We’re on the bus riding to one of the next destinations and him and the French chick strike up a conversation. They’re talking about the different places they’ve been and and want to go. And I don’t remember how but the America comes up….and both say they didn’t want to visit. The French girl says she doesn’t want to visit because she’s afraid she’ll get shot. I’m like whatever ok. I get it’s always on the news. I chuckle and just keep listening to the conversation. Dutchy agrees. They both laugh and say in Europe the only thing they have to worry about is knife attacks. Dutchy says he was offered a job in San Diego but refuses to go because 1. He doesn’t feel safe. 2. He believes “America is the greatest evil there is.” I had to really stile my laugh after that.

We get off at our next stop and this kid who is from NYC but half Japanese comes up to me and says “did you hear what that guy was saying??” I said yeah and laughed. He replies “what a ****ing asshole.” I laughed and said just ignore him and kill him with kindness. Don’t stoop to his level.

Later in the tour we were walking down the street to a small village. As we were all crossing the street some cars were zipping by so we all stopped and waited. Dutch dude wasn’t paying attention and goes to cross the road and was about to get hit by a car until I grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him back. I patted him on the shoulder and said “the greatest evil saves bails out a European again.” Smiled and walked off.

Anyways here’s a pic of the lake
