My wife and I moved into our house in August 2020. During the football seasons and during other big games for aggy (like their CWS games this year), there's a neighbor nearby that blasts an airhorn when they score and when they win the game regardless of what time it is. Imagine the airhorn going off (and sometimes well into the night) to the beat of hullaballoo caneck caneck from their war hymn. Our typical responses include looking at each other and chuckling, or shaking are heads in disapproval, or rolling our eyes.

I'm contemplating a different response this football season though, a response I've actually been thinking about since the first time I heard it. That response to hearing the neighbor's airhorn would be sounding an airhorn of my own every time aggy gets scored against or loses a game. Just to be clear, I'd not initiate, just retaliate if they sound their airhorn first.

Is this petty, or is this appropriate in the spirit of neighborly jest?
