Since I was young guy. I recognized politics is a brutal contact sport. Always has been, always will be.
Recently I watched Ken Burns documentary on the Roosevelt family — the Theodore Roosevelt’s as well as the FDR wing. Needless to say, it was a great family. Two of Tesdy’s sons served in WWII. His oldest son led the invasion of Omaha beach and posthumously won the Congressional Medal of Honor. All 5 of FDR’s sons served in combat roles.
But one thing that struck me was that even while at War, the Republicans attacked FDR and his family. Heck, Harry Truman, a Democrat attacked Eleanor for wasting government money during the war. And the most amazing accusation leveled at the CIC in WAR TIME, was that FDR sent a naval vessel to pick up his dog Fallah in the aAleutian Islands at the time of anywhere between $5mm to $20 mm.
So is all the combat we are witnessing now in Washington really different? Dems have been equally ruthless. Politics is politics.
