He is out there somewhere, supposedly living under an assumed name. What a crazy life, he was as close to American royalty as we had. The only son of the great MacArthur, his grandfather was a Civil War hero and Medal of Honor winner, as was his dad. Apparently he dropped off the face of the earth after his dad died in 1964, though he is still involved with the MacArthur memorial. Must be a weird story in there somewhere.
Unlike most military brats, he was on Corregidor with MacArthur and was whisked away on the ship. He was with him throughout most of his early life. He was with him in his ticker tape parade, pretty much everywhere.
My dad went to NYC in the late 50s and saw the MacArthur's at the Waldorf. They lived on the top floor. Apparently Arthur got used to hotel living and moved to the Mayfower Hotel as an adult.
